Not so much the forum but resetting post counts caused a lot of regulars to disappear. Their post counts shouldn't really have made a difference but they do.

Most internet forums have died/are dying out. People have shifted their internet habits from forums to social networking sites like Facebook and Skype, so subject-specific forums like this aren't as necessary.
