It is easiet to use XMedia Recode 64bit to convert your files - https://www.xmedia-recode.de/en/download.php i'll update the guide and possibly include a video guide soon as ive had a few requests via PM.
it sounds like you do not have an xml file selected go to 'Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\ads' and copy an xml file from either the clubs or no clubs folder into the ads folder
Dygon
on Xmedia Recode 64bit i have only option for the saving.
the only option is .xmr
why?
rabcp
1. Open file and select your .avi file
2. add to queue
3. Ensure output format is .ivf
4. encode

Chances are your Graphics folder is the issues make sure it's called "graphics" for some reason the uppercase "G" causes this issue. (Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\graphics)
Install all updates and then this fix

You need to install all updates in order, V.1.0, V.1.1, V1.2 & V1.2.1 in order for the Dortmund ads to work
Your graphics folder is wrong, the correct set up is graphics/pictures/ads
You have missed the pictures folder
Kyle Mcivor
And I am still having the same problem of all static adboards showing fm2008 logo
petepompei
Yeah, me too!
Can somebody point out to me where the coding for adboards for friendlies is located in the fm.xml file, please?
rabcp
Post your folder set ups and i’ll take a look
They are coded at the start of the xml file
rbcuk
Alright mate, yeah I had done that last night, installed in order
Kyle Mcivor
theres my folder set ups
cheers
petepompei
Here's the folder setup on a mac.

You must have gone wrong somewhere, as the Dortmund static ads work as intended, make sure you have the newest xml file and search you actually have the dormund static ads (Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\graphics\pictures\ads\europe\germany\clubs\borussia dortmund)
Your issue is the pictures folder that also needs to be lower case
What issue are you having with the patch?
As far as I know that looks correct but I don play with a MAC so Icant 100% confirm
Kyle Mcivor
Sending a donation your way for the great add on
Stay safe

Where should I install the files too?
XML files
Graphics
If playing on a MAC system install the graphics to this path;
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/football manager 2020/graphics/pictures/ads

Why are there two different xml files?
As the folder names suggest one xml file contains club specific adboards and one does not. This has been done as in previous patches people have complained that they see clubs specific adboards in cup competitions. Due the way the xml file there is no way around this using code. The only solution is the use of two files, the pictures below demonstrate the difference in the xml files.
Why are my video adboards are black?
Either your video ads are in the wrong location or your system can not cope with HD graphics.
- Ensure you video ads are in this location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2020\data\simatchviewer_uncompressed\videos
- Try re-naming the 'HD' folder in the above location to 'SD' this tricks the system into treating the video as SD files.
What happened to the static ads?
This error occus when FM can not find the correct static ads.
- Ensure the static ads are the the following location:
PC - Documents/Sports Interactive/football manager 2020/graphics/pictures/ads
MAC - Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/football manager 2020/graphics/pictures/ads
- Ensure this path (graphics/pictures/ads) contains only lowercase charcters.

Hi rabcp. Thanks for the reply. I have the same problem than Kyle mcivor as I'm seeing only football manager 2008 static ads.
mons
What is the exact path of your \graphics\pictures\ads\ folder? As it's a Mac, the full path isn't visible.
Also, what is the size of this folder and how many files do you have in there?
petepompei
Hi mons. Thank you for the reply.
here's my exact path for my folders:
graphics: Macintosh HD>Users>myusername>Library>Application Support>Sports Interactive>Football Manager 2020>graphics>pictures
xml: Macintosh HD>Users>myusername>Library>Application Support>Sports Interactive>Football Manager 2020>ads
steam: Macintosh HD>Users>myusername>Library>Application Support>Steam>steamapps>common>Football Manager 2020>data>simatchviewer_uncompressed
bidstack: Macintosh HD>Users>myusername>Library>Application Support>Sports Interactive>Football Manager 2020>Preferences>version3
the ads folder (inside pictures) weighs 353,5 MB and has 5045 items.
These ads used to work before I updated my team's 2D and 3D kits; although I doubt it, do you think that has something to do with ads not working now?
mons
All looked fine until the last couple of paragraphs. I have a fair amount less of items in the ads folder, 4.365 to be precise. What are those extra files - did you put anything else in there?
As for the 2D and 3D kits, where exactly did you install them? If the adboard stopped working after adding them, it could be that this was not done properly. Can you try removing them and see if the adboards work then?
petepompei
Hi mons, thank you for the reply.
I've tried to remove the new kits and that didn't work. The kits are installed in their correct folders and correctly coded.
No, there's nothing else in the ads folder.
I deleted and reinstalled all adboard patches and now I'm getting England national tam adboards for a club friendly as per attachment. Is this normal? (before for friendly matches, I used to get default adboards).
mons
Nope, that's not quite right either. You've somehow not installed it correctly, but I'm at a loss as to exactly how.
I have a proposal via PM
rabcp
Yes this is correct, I don’t know why but with friendly matches if there are no club adboards FM will look for International adboards assigned to that nation before loading the default ads

I imagine the writing etc will look very similar to the Don Revie stand, it would just help add a bit more realism to my Leeds save (7 years in).
Cheers
