Frequently Asked Questions
If you're not a premium member, it is recommended that you download the base megapack via torrent by going to our cut-out megapack download page. After which, you should then download all the update packs released to date and apply them chronologically.
If you're a premium member, just download the most recent complete pack.
If you already have a version of our Cut-Out Faces Megapack installed, then click "Download Latest Changes" and you'll be presented with a list of all the updates we've released since you've last downloaded a file. Simply download any you might have missed, applying the oldest first and continuing to apply update packs in the chronological order in which they were released.
Contrary to previous versions of the game, there is no need to change any settings in the preferences in FM26.
If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.
These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. It might be for FM24, but the steps are exactly the same.
Otherwise, follow the steps in this comment and post the results so that we can assist you.
As a result, the iconfaces are no longer available for download because they're not needed. You should also delete the iconfaces folder manually from your system too š
It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.
Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
To get them to show, you should individually download any previously available cut-out faces from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

In fact, that is not in the default FM user data folder.
To get FM to read files from anywhere other than Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 2021, you need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.

Can I see a screenshot of your Steam launch folder options?
I have another idea, but perhaps it might be quicker if you sent me a PM.

Is it possible to get an uncompressed facepack file which I can drag straight into the FM graphics folder?
Thanks
Chris

Typically you will see a really long amount of time when you first start the extraction. That's because the connection starts weak but builds strength as it goes. Give it a few minutes and you'll probably see that 100+ hours go down to an hour or so.
That said, speed of extraction is affected by what you're doing on your PC. If you've got FM running, a browser window or two open and some other apps in the background, then the speed of extraction will slow down correspondingly. Think of it as when you're at work - you may be able to do a job quickly but you won't do it as quickly if you've got 5 other things going on at the same time š
If need be, restart your PC/laptop before going to bed and extract it then - should be done by the time you get up š

Thanks - I am not sure exactly how many images but it's lots - starts at 0 and goes up to 2000054942
Attached is the screenshot of the interface for the preferences - is that what you needed?
Thanks!

And here is a screenshot of the faces folder if that helps

The preferences aren't as per the screenshot in the first part; the use caching button needs to be unticked.
As for your other screenshot, it says in the bottom left corner that you have circa 30k images in your faces folder. Since the full megapack contains 279k+ images, it's clear your don't have the full megapack. Download it again from scratch š

Screenshots of your in-game preferences and of your faces folder, in the latter case showing clearly the path it's installed in and the amount of images contained within it.

Resolved now!

It would help us if you provided screenshots of your in-game preferences and of your faces folder, in the latter case showing clearly the path it's installed in and the amount of images contained within it, so that perhaps we can see what the matter is.

The file didn't download fully, so it's to be expected that there are to be errors when extracting it. Best to wait until sufficient seeds are online so you can get the remaining tiny bit downloaded, then hopefully extract the full pack without any issues.

Under skin untick the "use caching to decrease page loading time". Press confirm and if the faces are in the right place they should be show š
mons
In addition to what Qvordrup's rightly pointed out, you don't have the full complement of 279k+ images in your faces folder plus I have no idea about the naming conventions of your files; they definitely shouldn't be named like that: filenames should just be numbers.
Qvordrup
But something seems to be wrong with the files. They seems to be in the right place, but there should be two folders "faces" and "iconfaces" each with a config inside. Have you renamed the files or changed the folder names? they seems to have strange names... Perhaps you should redownload the pack again and unpack the files to the right place without changing anything.

my questions:
1. how do i add the new faces without accidentally deleting the old ones
2. why did the faces go away?
mons
1. By installing it correctly.
2. Because you didn't install the update pack correctly
:face_with_tongue:
Sorry, couldn't resist. Joking apart, when installing an update pack, it should not be placed in a separate sub-folder. All faces should go into the faces folder and all iconfaces should go into the iconfaces folder, accepting the overwrite prompt when it comes up. At the end of the process, you should have 279k+ images and a file titled config.xml in one faces folder and one faces folder only, and same for the iconfaces.

mons
a) Remember to delete the update pack sub-folder you installed previously which caused the issue
b) With Windows, if you copy the faces and iconfaces folders from the download into the folder containing the megapack faces and iconfaces sub-folders, the contents transfer automatically. Not sure if that's the case for Mac
If you're still not clear, screenshots of your megapack folder and of the contents of the file you've downloaded would help.
L A
Well
a) I had never previously downloaded a 'latest changes'
b) makes all the difference cause its the difference between keeping or losing the 15gb worth of cutouts or losing them
L A
going into the downloaded 'faces' and 'icon faces' folders and going 'mark all' and trying to move them to the graphics folder is a shitshow, my computer (newly acquired) can't do it
mons
In the second screenshot, why do you have a faces folder within the graphics folder? Like I've said, you should have one faces folder and one faces folder only, so remove that and leave only the faces folder within the graphics > sortitoutsi-1. Why have you renamed that one? It's a really, really simple process, I have no idea why you are choosing to complicate it so much š
Extract the update pack folder to somewhere else on your PC which isn't your graphics folder. A temporary file on your desktop, for instance. Once it's all extracted, copy/paste the ensuing faces and iconfaces folders into the existing graphics > sortitoutsi-1. If done right, you should get an overwrite prompt, which you should accept.
L A
the update pack is already somewhere else! its in my downloads! okay so you want me to paste the downloaded faces and icon faces folders into sortitoutsi. that's where my worry was, thinking it will replace the old faces rather than adding to it! because then something pops up saying should we replace this?
thanks for the advice anyway
