If you're playing FM Touch, use this file.

This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.

Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2021 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.

There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down

For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

Slightly more detail in this post

STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the downloaded pack

STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.

These are what the respective folder structures should look like in the 2140 folder:

dbc: https://i.imgur.com/fOxUv7W.png
dbc/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/tr2z5Jb.png
edt/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/VDaXvQ4.png
lnc: https://i.imgur.com/i6z1QCO.png

STEP 4:
COPY the 10 files located in the EDITOR DATA FILES folder in the downloaded pack

STEP 5
PASTE to
\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2021\editor data

\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2021\\GAMEPASS\editor data

Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:

Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2021’

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.

Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

You can do it in 2 ways: either through the lnc files (which means any changes are save-game compatible but the club nicknames will disappear), or through editor data files (which will need to be in place before starting a new game).

Either method will involve you typing in the changes manually, I'm afraid. No shortcuts around it...

However, I do believe there is a file already in the community (possibly in the editor hideaway download forum over on the official Sigames forums) which possibly does what you're looking for already. Have a look for it before possibly duplicating somebody else's work.

Thanks, I'll have a look. It's taken me over a day to rename teams from about 5 countries.. I hoped there had been a quicker way!

Brazilian leagues kits and colors need more work. I'm planning to fix those for myself in the comming days using 3D kits as a reference. Perhaps others will be interested to share with them once I'm done?

Hi mons, I have 2 things that need to be changed, Two Belgium teams that are not displayed correct if you play FM in Dutch. I've reported this as so many others for years at SI games but they just don't care it seems... Can you add this to the next update? Thanks!

Are the above to be changed in the Dutch language only or in English as well?

I used this Brazilian kit of color changes on the FM20. It worked, I will not have problems later, if I start a save?

@mons Thank you very much for this! I'm wondering if it's possible to install everything but the awards names (e.g. cappononiere would stay 'top scorer' or whatever it says in English)?

EDIT: eh...seems I just have to not copy Awards.Inc in the Inc file

Hi mons I read a couple of weeks ago about the juventus rivalries disappearing which I was also suffering from, I still use your fix but have changed my skin to a diffrent one ( just the base one but with a transparent background- dont think this matters at all) and they are now there again. Just thought I would share if you are still investigating the problem

It's not the Juventus rivalries which disappear, though. It's rivalries for other clubs which have Juve as rivals. So, for example Torino's and Inter's rivals list is affected.

I've moved this to here since it's related to these files and not to editor data files.

If you want to change the award names (or the competition names), just open the respective lnc file(s) with Notepad and make the changes that you want to. The lnc files are quite self-explanatory tbh. These changes will be save-game compatible.

If there is anything else you'd like to edit, then let me know and I can guide you accordingly 👍

Sorry if i am being dumb, but what do you mean by open the inc file with notepad?
if i right click on one of the fmf files, it doesnt give me the option to do that?

Only reason i asked which to edit in editor is also so i can search for all awards in certain country for e.g. Italy so i can change all Italian awards
I assume in the notepad i would need to search through alot of coding to find each award and i am not sure which ones i need to change without having the editor filter?

This download contains some editor data files, which as you say will need to be opened using the pre-game editor, but another aspect of this download are the files contained in the lnc folder, which have a .lnc extension. (P.S. it's short for licencing, so it's .lnc not .inc 😉 )

As can be seen in this screenshot in the main post, one of these files is the one titled Awards. This contains all the changes to award names included within this download. You can decide to remove this file outright, which would mean that you would remove all the award name changes included within it and the game would run without any issues at all and display the default award names.

You could also decide to edit this lnc file, which you can do by opening it with Notepad. (Right-click, open with and choose Notepad). If you do so, you will see that all the entries are sorted by country or competition, so it would be quite easy to find, for example, Italian awards and remove them all if that's what you want.

Hope this helps 👍

As explained in the main post, the German national team doesn't instantly change over to the real players, but only on the next time that players are called up.

To see if the file was installed correctly, please upload screenshots of your edt/permanent and lnc folders in the 2111 path.

I know this might not be the right area to post, but regarding DDT. How does one create such a file say if I had some parameters in mind -so for example all players U23 with potential of 165+

Apologies for asking what must have been asked before, but how can I make subsequent changes to league names after applying this fix? Some changes made in my editor file (for example, changing the name of the FA Youth Challenge Cup) are overridden when I load the database into the game, even with no other databases loaded.

Cheers

Changes effected through editor data files cannot be overwritten via lnc files. Can you explain exactly what you mean?

So having applied the fix, if open editor and change the name of the FA Youth Challenge Cup to something else, then save and load that database into a new game, it will still be called 'FA Youth Challenge Cup'. How can I ensure that changes to competition names in the editor are applied in-game? May also apply to club names and things but haven't yet tested.

Ok, this is mental, but having re-opened the game now to screenshot what I mean the changes have now been applied, mid-game. Absolutely no idea how that has happened, but ignore me for now. If it happens again, I'll screenshot and post here. Thanks anyway for replying so fast!
