This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2022 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs, as well as Manchester Utd, to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Another editor data file creates the Ajax non-playing staff and the German national team manager missing from the database due to licensing restrictions. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.
You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down menu
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.
For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.
STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the downloaded pack
STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.
These are what the respective folder structures should look like in the 2240 folder:
dbc:
dbc/permanent:
edt/permanent:
lnc:
STEP 4:
COPY the 11 files located in the EDITOR DATA FILES folder in the downloaded pack
STEP 5
PASTE to \Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2022\editor data
This is also the same folder to be used for Gamepass.
As stated by SI themselves, for Gamepass, however:
You are not able to change the user data location as such but you can use the user data folder in Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2022 to store facepacks and graphics.
Equivalent folder for Mac
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2022’[/spoiler]
This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese and German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

ok thx!
but do you like the short name? 😂

So, i have a saved game, I applied the "club name change" file when opening the game. And then I edited the lnc file in notepad then saved it with ctrl+s. There are no changes in the game. Where did I go wrong?
mons
Not very short 😂 I don't intend to change the current name, if that's what you're trying to tell me 😉
I added a line to the FAQ about this earlier today 👍

Hey @mons i got very confused now with AC Arlesien, i posted here few days ago about the name that shouldnt appear as AC ARLES - AVIGNON but as AC Arlesien instead, so far so good. The strange thing is that in game it is shown as AC ARLES - AVIGNON althought i searched in your club name change editor file and doesnt appear to have changed, neither on the inc file!!! how is that possible????
ps. even in the original db the name is right (AC ARLESIEN)
UID IS 3500215
pics attached too.

Hi
Thanks your awesome work over the years!
i have the 1.2v installed correctly(all changes appear correctly ingame)
I have a similar problem, & i have boiled it down to the Ajax & Flick file and the Media file being incompatible(doesnt matter if it's only one or both) with my changes.
i have looked through your changes in both files. so i can confirm that our changes doesnt in anyway conflict.
Any idea why this issue occur?
ianvou
yes, greek language i use and after switching to english appears correct!….its very confusing though! how can greek data language cause that problem?
Adding this line in notepad will make me lose the nicknames??
mons
No idea. Could be a bug with the game or a bug in your file 😕
It will, yes. Seems like the editor data file will only work in English-language saves then, unless I'm mistaken.
shitmenot
Since im not allowed to send a pm due to being a long time lurker 😀
Did you raise the issue to SI? or did you find a solution?
mt0525
So, if I apply the "club name change" editor data file and after opening new game change the lnc file, does the game give priority to the editor data file or lnc file?
mons
If you have changed club x's name in the editor data file, then any changes to club x's name that you do in the lnc file will not take effect.
The editor data file changes the names only, any other fields can be freely changed via lnc files (if applicable) or in other editor data files.
ianvou
no problem, if this is the deal. i know english and it's not a problem for me, but still i am confused regarding how is this whole thing built!!!
I mean the original db has it as AC Arlesien, your editor data file and inc file has it untouched which means AC Arlesien too then how on earth in the greek version appears as AC Arles - Avignon??
and how am i suppose to fix it if i want to?
Questions for knowing things of course, issue occurs no more changing the db language as english
SOLVED - Just checked on fm22 editor using the greek language and it appears there as AC ARLES - AVIGNON!

Thanks for the reply, Ok, I will give that a bash, My suggestion would be that club names for La Liga, Bundes Liga etc would appear as they do on the respective leagues official website league tables, think this would enhance realism. https://www.laliga.com/en-GB/laliga-santander/standing; https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/table; as examples, tbf most are spot ob but there is a few which are more colloquial names of the clubs rather than what we see when looking at league tables IRL.
Also, Am I right in saying that this patches acheives the same results as the one on FM Scout (Which I used last year) but with the added benefit of not removing club nicknames, I am just trying to compare them both to make sure I am not missing out on anything lol. Second last question I promise, What does the file “forbidden names.dbc effect as they advise you to delete that also but I notice you guys do not. And final question, why do we need to duplicate these actions in ”2200" & “2201” as well rather than just “2210”
Thanks in advance
mons

I downloaded the real name fix and the league and tournament names are correct but Man UFC, Zebre and Real San Sebastian still appears…
mons
Read this.

Hi. Really sorry if this is the wrong place, but with the real names fix file, any idea why it reads ‘This data file is incompatible - please load it into the editor and re-save’ in the database folder? Any idea what I need to do to fix this? I've done everything as indicated and this doesn't normally happen!
mons
I have no idea where you're putting that for you to get that error message, I've never seen that before.
Can I have a screenshot of your folders which have a screenshot in the main post?

Awesome, some great answers there. If I just want to have the Bundes liga team names the way they are in the official database do I just remove the “German club name changes DE file” Does this file only effect German club names.. Stupid question I know
mons
I'm getting all those @Lionsault, keep them coming 👍
Yes.
If you load up the pre-game editor, you can check this yourself, you know 😉 And if you're not sure, there's nothing stopping you from starting a new game as a test to see how things are and what (if anything) needs changing or tweaking.
myfunnygame
ok i did mega question comment here but first: if i want to be in hall o f fame i cant change anything in base? Hash (#) in ur file too?
I tried and will try to read all comments here.
BTW u should change this picture if it shouldn't be there (norway, newcastle)
sreillyceltic
Yeah I am a returning FM player that has been away for a few years, but played my first ever game as Champ 97/98… Not played about with an editor since for decades lol. But I did what you where thinking and loaded it up there and had a poke, its actually pretty straight forward. Tbf not even the original FM database has the German clubs exactly the way they are on official Bundes Liga tables so I think best option is to just tweak your file till I am happy. I am a one save man once finally booted up. Thanks again, tremendous work….. I have particularly enjoyed the amount of times you have been asked about Zebra or Man Utd….. Hahaha

No, you can't use editor data files in reply to the bit in bold.
The picture with norway and newcastle was removed once v1.0 was uploaded and it hasn't been there for 3 days now…
Knock yourself out. It's all quite straight-forward once you get the hang of it.
Why are you using the FM21 files for FM22??
peterpansnr
If it's that obvious I'm going to punch myself in the face.
mons
It is that obvious, I'm afraid. Please make sure to install the dbc, edt and lnc folders too, not just the editor data files.
And do delete the older editor data files.
peterpansnr
Thanks and I'm sorry for wasting your time. I honestly don't know how I did that!
