Could Rooney be going?

I can't see Rooney staying if we actually do go ahead and sign Falcao, unless he intends to turn into an attacking midfielder permanently. Maybe Hernandez put in a transfer request?

There's a far simpler explanation.

We aren't signing Falcao.

Yeah that seems more likely, it would be odd getting rid of Rooney only to pay a fortune to sign Falcao. You'd almost certainly lose Hernandez as well if you signed him. Doesn't make any sense for United

Just seems like Marca are trying to set it up for Madrid to get him.

Yeah thats probably more the case, i just cant see United shelling out a big transfer fee 2 years in a row. Especially when its clear they need to strengthen in other positions.

Marca is not a reputable source for transfer rumours.

As if there's a media source out there that's even remotely reputable anymore.

Well, there's plenty that are more reputable than others - a transfer story printed by someone like the Guardian, Independent or Telegraph is far more likely to have some truth in it than one posted in the Sun or the Daily Star.

Yeah, wasn't Vidic definitely going to Real Madrid last season? And Pique and Alves were definitely leaving? And David Villa was definitely going to Arsenal in January?

This.

But Sky Sports are now running with the story that Man United are favorites to sign Falcao...

SkySports are crap for transfer news.

Consider this, a company that owns a 24 hour rolling news sports channel and a betting company, its in their interest to make bollocks up.

Apparently Marca have said that the Falcao deal to United will be confirmed in a couple hours.

I doubt it, but we'll see.

They haven't.

There was a rumour that Marca were going to say that, though.

Ahhh. I couldn't see an official comment from Marca, only posts from United news Twitter accounts.

Although I expect they'll report 'developments' on it in the next few days.

They haven't actually reported anything on it since they first 'reported' it.

Sport Witness are worth a follow for stuff like this.

The rumours linking Manchester United hitman Wayne Rooney with moneybags Ligue Un side Paris St-Germain are gathering momentum, with a former PSG club official claiming the deal is already "done".

Michel Moulin, a former advisor at PSG in 2008, is now running a French media outlet called Le Sport 10, and appeared on French television to claim that Rooney was heading to the Parc des Princes in the summer.

"I announce to you from trusted sources - Rooney to PSG is done. He will be at PSG next season."

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has revealed his interest in signing the United and England star.

Linked with Carroll today. Not sure how genuine out interest is. Apparently went for him in the summer but it looked a non-starter. West Ham though may not think he's worth the money and there's a decent chance Allardyce is leaving. Could see Gold and Sullivan going for a change in styles and the new guy being someone like Martinez who may not want Carroll.

Cynically could suggest the timing is a bit suspicious but I don't think Ashley really does that sort of thing. He has a different way of operating than most traditional chairman and directors.
