Incredible results! Congrats to to the title, just amazing, the Brazil and Argentina games. What's your plan now? You're staying with Chile?

Not sure yet, I'm tempted to call a day on this one and begin a new one. A few Asian jobs came up for grabs and I couldn't apply for any of them so I might just load a couple of leagues but load all players from almost every nation giving me a huge list of playable National teams.

The only question will be who to start with?

You had restricted yourself a bit with your initial database size and leagues you had selected, I've had simular problems with not being able to apply for national team jobs because of this.

What specs your PC/Laptop have? I only ask as I don't have the most powerfull laptop in the world (2.00 GHz, 3 GB RAM) but I'm able to play FM08 with a large database and 22 nations with top leagues playable, 4 nations (England, Spain, France & Germany) with all leagues playable and 1 nation (Italy) with the top 2 divisions playable. The only time I notice my laptop struggling are the when various seasons end and relegated/promoted teams are sorted and new Regens are created for the various countries. But you will be able to apply for most top nations around the world.

It might be worth loading players from a few other nations without playable leagues (depending on who you might like to manage) as nations like Egypt, North Korea etc.. won't let you apply for jobs.

I've a Macbook Pro with 2.66GHz and 4GB RAM.

Just doing a few tests at the moment, loaded a butt-load of players and not leagues and I could manage about 80 nations but it ran way too slowly. I'm just trying with 60 players nations loaded to see what happens.

After that I'll see how many leagues I can load and see how fast that runs.

I've also managed to get Japan playable but I'm going to wait until later in the game for the chance to manage them (as long as they'd take me)

Expect "Around The World III" soon.

I don't think I've ever had the Japanese national team as playable even with "all players from Japan" loaded!

Also not having leagues "playable" seriously restricts the numbers of players available, even having leagues as "view only" limits this too. With just a top division playable from a nation you will have reserve and youth teams filled with players.

For example, with Brazilian top division "playable" you have full 1st team, reserve team and youth team squads but with "view only" you will only get the 1st team squad and maybe a few of their decent youth players moved into the 1st team squad. A "playable" league will populate clubs youth teams every year with Regens. You will find that "view only" reduces the number of Regens available which becomes a problem a few years down the line (which is why you had very few decent Regens whilst in charge of Hungary).

Tried it both ways and the game seems to somehow run faster with more leagues run rather than payers.

I also get more manageable Nations, in fact 76!! Including Japan

I'm also gonna make it a bit of a lottery as to who I manage by tracking the major tournaments and seeing which jobs become free from them.

I also forgot to mention that there is a "Huge" database size option, you have to download a panels.fmf file to be able to use it and I came across a working download link recently.

My current saved game is the one I mentioned a few post up (27 nations, "Large" database), this gives me around 85,000 players, 35,000 non-players and 12,000 teams.

While the same amount of nations loaded using the "Huge" database gives me around 130,000 players, 45,000 non-players and 13,000 teams.

It also gives you 114 playable national teams!!!

Cheers mate. Just running some tests now. Tried 25 leagues with a medium database and I got 82 nations and it runs quite nicely.

Just trying it with large DB now, it'll be a compromise of nations vs speed. I think I might go for speed over amount of nations though.

Just tried it and a large DB only gives me 6 more nations. In my eyes it's not worth it in the long run so I'll probably opt for the Medium DB.

I'll make a story when I am settled in for a couple of seasons:

Around The World III is on!

...and 1 year later, it very well could be. Got the huge database loaded and might be able to find some time for this too.
