Joe Allen shags sheep.

Pfft, I like Barry but Carrick can make passes Barry doesn't even see and he does everything else equally well on top.

See this is why a lot of people think Rodgers is horrendously arrogant, he's going on about how he understands dynamics when he still hasn't gotten Liverpool firing, he's taken 1 more point from his first seven games, than Alan 'doesn't understand how a team functions' Shearer did from his first seven games in charge of a miserable Newcastle team.
Abbott
He's completely right though.

It was a United fan who brought up Carrick!

Not seen this mentioned anywhere else, pretty bizarre:

Not sure why it's not come up as a link, but yeah looks a pretty odd technique.

Yeah, but Shola's point is valid.
All well and good Rogers mouthing off about how much he knows, but until his philosophy gets him results then there's not a very strong base from him to attack others.

Bit of a strange comment
Abbott
Nah, I'm fairly sure Brendan Rodgers is in a much better position to talk about the dynamics of a football team than Alan Shearer. Just because he hasn't won a lot it doesn't mean his footballing ideas are worthless. Besides, despite comparatively little success he's achieved and learnt far more about coaching than Shearer ever will.

Great...

Yes, but until his achievements rank beyond say those of Tony Pulis, and they don't, sadly. He doesn't really have much of a basis to claim that his way is the right way when playing shit, anti-football hoofball with 11 thugs can get you comparative results.
Abbott
Of course he can, you're just making little digs at Rodgers now for the sake of it. (And I'm not entirely sure what he's achieved isn't as good as Pullis personally).
Rodgers is perfectly entitled to defend Allen from Shearer's old fashioned, ill-informed opinions. And as far as I'm aware Rodgers hasn't been 'mouthing off' about his philosophy being better than others, he's just got conviction in what he wants from his team - and that's absolutely fine. And he clearly does know quite a bit about football, and the only reason people are criticising him for it is because most other managers don't like to talk about tactics and style of play as much as him. Most others prefer to talk about trivial things like referees and if players are upset.
jumberto
Not in the slightest.

Tony Pulis got Stoke promoted, got them to an FA Cup final and established them as a solid Premiership team.
Rodgers' has taken Swansea up and secured a comfortable mid-table finish and that is it.
Pulis has been in the game longer, but to say he hasn't achieved more is ludicrous bias.
Rodgers' has proved absolutely nothing at Liverpool, the football might be better, but the results are worse even than Dalglish's. Although he's right that Shearer is clueless, he has to wait until results improve on the pitch before he can state Liverpool's return to form as a triumph of his philosophy. To do it now just makes him seem like a lunatic, it's stuff like that and the picture of him hanging in his own house that lead people to think that he's a bit of a cock.
jumberto
Shearer had what 8 games at Newcastle, I dont think he's even done his coaching badges.
Abbott
What are you talking about? Where is he talking about a triumph? He's constantly preaching patience and that its a long road. And if we do improve and do better then why shouldn't he say its because of his game plan? ITS NOT LIKE HE'S THE MANAGER OR ANYTHING. All the house stuff is bullshit anyway. What a prick for having a picture of himself in his own home that somebody from a charity gave him. How dare he live in a nice house.
I can't help but think people are annoyed at him because he's Liverpool manager. Last season he was always talking about his philosophy and style of play but nobody gave a shit.
