Now I'm a massive fan on Football manager and had a look recently at Out of the Park baseball. While it is much less feature heavy as FM is, it has some little quirks in it that would be AMAZING for FM, and I think could really change things in the future:

Facegen
  • im not 100% sure on this, but the facegen they use looks a lot better. What I mean by this is that you can generate facegen for ANY player, and edit it in game. The community has also used facegen on real life players to create facegens of that player that actually looks like them
  • this facegen then ages properly, sometimes grows a beard, and changes hairstyle and weight throught their career (depending on age/fitness etc)
  • the facegen also wears a jersey (that can be edited per team) not only does this keep the game immersive (no more pictures of real players in chelsea kits playing for watford, for example) but it also gives a sense of progression of the player as they get older, and maybe even become a coach, changes teams (changes jersey depending on team or if playing home or away etc....) you can then add facial hair etc - it really is amazing
  • for people who would rather have real life pictures, you can just change between the two, so everybody would be happy (i realise this would require community support to help create a lot of the facegens, but its been done with player pictures, why not with this?)
Historical Leagues
  • You can start a game from any point in time in baseball on OOTP. imagine if this could be done in FM, start a game in the 1970s with their rulesets, or go back to the 90s. Real players progress as they did in real life (giving you a bit of an advantage) or can progress randomly - again, this could be one of the biggest changes ever seen in FM, and its done in OOTP

  • Now, dont get me wrong, I love playing FM, and I think its great. But these changes put into the game, I personally think could be HUGE.
Plus, this is all in a game that if i remember correctly was started with help from SI guys, but these features exist on a game that is no more than 300mb in size (i can appreciate that graphically FM is FAR superior and also in other ways it does things, but i think this is SERIOUSLY impressive)

    what do you guys think?

Good points about the face-gen, it is annoying that you get so many 35 year-olds who look 15.

Historic Leagues aren't going to happen, though. It'd be way too much work to do it, let alone to do it accurately.

It's very easy to implement those things (changing jerseys, historical leagues) into a game with 30 teams. In a game with literally thousands of teams those would be almost impossible, especially with copyright issues.

I do agree with you on the aging players though and think that would be a fairly simple thing to add that would make the game alot better as you get into the later years.
