I am not sure if this was discussed before but I noticed several players don't have the same fixed attribute values in the beginning of the save and in that regard the same CA in every save in the same database. For example, Martin Vitik, the Czech wonderkid, in one save has 9 for stamina and 5 for determination. In the other save, he has 12 for stamina and 19 for determination. Evan Ferguson, for example, in one save has 10 for natural fitness but in the other he has 12 etc.  I always thought that the attributes that make CA  in the beginning are always the same (fixed) but the limit in which they would develop depends on the PA. I've never noticed that before in earlier games so I'm not sure why is this happening.

That sounds odd, especially if the values fluctuate so much… It's a huge leap between 9 & 5 and 12 & 19! Like a complete different player or the same player at a very different age/stage of their career.

There are hundreds of thousands of people in the FM database. Each of them has at least 50 attributes. It's impossible for every player to have each and every attribute input, particularly for skills which aren't immediately clear. Do you know Messi's long throw ability, or a random Watford full-back's penalty-taking ability, for instance?

Each player does however have a Current Ability attribute out of 200. When creating a new game, in cases where one or more attributes aren't given a specific number (e.g. Ferguson's natural fitness), the game will assign attributes for those players based on the CA they have. Attributes are weighted (e.g. marking is more important for a defender than finishing) and it's therefore not completely random.

You can easily check this out in the pre-game editor. You can create 2 players with no attributes input, one with a high CA (e.g. 150, which is a first-team player at a top club) and another with a low CA (e.g. 80), and you can see how the game will generate random, but reasonably realistic, attributes for the position in different careers.

I understand it now. Thank you for the explanation @mons

I know. That's why I started the topic because I wasn't sure if this was due to my faulty game or did the SI change something because I've never noticed it before. But after mons' explanation I understood the reason why this happens.
