Southampton have made a bid to sign Leandro Damiao apparently.

Would be funny is Spurs miss out on him, when they could and should have sealed that deal up in any of the past 4 transfer windows.

I think Stoke are in serious trouble, aye.

I don't think Hughes is as bad an appointment as people try and make out, but for Stoke to advance they have to ditch those archaic Pulis' tactics and that's a huge job.

Hughes isn't the sort of person you want to bring in to try and overhaul Pulis' regime/philosophy. For one thing he has no discernible footballing philosophy other than being hard to beat.

The short-lived rumours about Stoke being interested in Martinez were far more interesting.

If Martinez went to Stoke and tried to impose his style of play, he'd have to buy an entirely new squad. You can't teach thugs like Whelan and N'Zonzi short, possession football.

I'm not saying it'd be an easy option, it would have been more interesting though.

That said, the transition from Moyes > Martinez should be interesting too.

One of N'Zonzi's biggest strengths is keeping the ball on the ground and playing short, often simple, passes.

Just because he's tall doesn't mean he can't play.
