I don't think Hughes is as bad an appointment as people try and make out, but for Stoke to advance they have to ditch those archaic Pulis' tactics and that's a huge job.

If Martinez went to Stoke and tried to impose his style of play, he'd have to buy an entirely new squad. You can't teach thugs like Whelan and N'Zonzi short, possession football.

One of N'Zonzi's biggest strengths is keeping the ball on the ground and playing short, often simple, passes.
