I swear some Toon fans have been saying he's a casino regular for ages. We're probably lucky he hasn't fallen off a barstool and injured his knee like Carroll did, though if he does that Liverpool might give us £35M again.

Talking of casinos, has Ashley gambled away our transfer budget or something? We seem no closer to signing anyone than we did before that numpty JFK rocked up.

I think it's just brinkmanship.

He has a year left on his deal and has fallen out with Lyon, so I think Newcastle will assume Lyon will drop their price, (which does seem far too high). Plus it would surely benefit Lyon to offload Gomis to Newcastle rather than Marseille. Due to them probably being rivals for the last CL spot, if Monaco and PSG take the first two places.

£10m is quite expensive for a striker in the last year of his contract who isn't world class really.

I still think we'll end up getting him with the price being closer to 6-7.

Could be, but I also remember Newcastle pulling this sort of stuff with Debuchy last summer and then we ended up not getting him at all in that window.

Newcastle apparently offered £2m and £30kp/w for Darren Bent. And were turned down immediately. This is apparently a 'farce.' Seems roughly what his market value should be imo. Well done to Villa though for holding their nerve if they can offload him to Fulham for £6m.

It's amazing how a lot of fans want the club to spend money, that player doesn't even matter any more. They just want someone signed for a lot of money. The same sorts of fans who claim transfer deadline day is 'boring' for them because Newcastle never sign anyone.
