Aubemayang has been on Sky saying he'd like to join us amid rumours we've done a £24M joint-bid for him and Kurt Zouma.

If we get them in - I'm unsure how Joe Kinnear has heard of Kurt Zouma and not Douglas so I'm skeptical.

Aubameyang and Cisse upfront together has me excited.

Aye it's all rumour and it's very hard to tell which rumours are right and which are bollocks, especially with our media. Just see what happens.

Can any of the Newcastle fans on here can give me some info on Greg McDermott? We signed him on a 12-month contract today and I wonder if he is shit or at least half-decent

Never actually played for us and probably only got on the books due to his dad being Terry Mac.

Plays centre midfield doesn't he?

I think so. His dad was also on our books in the early 70's so he might have 'recommended' him to us

James Perch is apparently off to Wigan for £700K.

I'd actually be quite disappointed if he moved - he's a good little back-up player to have. Plus it likely means the fairly useless Jonas will still be around.

Aye, Dan Gosling and Amilfantano should be leaving before he does.

Perch is quality.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic.

He's decent cover for a Prem side in a few positions, but I wouldn't stretch so far as "quality".

Apparently both of them and Mehdi Abeid are put on the out list as well, along with Williamson, Shola and Obertan.

Much as some of these players could be got shot of, where are we looking for new ones?

He was great this season pretty much whether he played. Especially in the defensive/holding midfielder role.

We definitely should be keepimg him around

Perch is a solid player who keeps it simple.

Strong in the tackle and hard working - exactly the type of player you want to come on when you're winning and need the game to close out.

Pfft, selling Perch is a bad decision.

Seems they haven't learnt the mistakes of last season when they got rid of Guthrie and Best.

Aubameyang is off to Dortmund.

Tbf, it would be a hell of a decision to turn them down for us at the moment. Unfortunately. But surely we can outbid West Ham for Wilfried Bony - I mean, they already bought one of our fucking targets.

I thought Bony was Swansea-bound?

I think both have made bids but it all depends on who you read, given the amount of contradictory rumours currently flying around at breakneck speed.

Club confirmation:

Newcastle United defender James Perch has joined Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old has agreed a four-year deal with the FA Cup-winning Latics, who were relegated to the Championship at the end of last season.

Perch signed for Newcastle in July 2010 from boyhood club Nottingham Forest and made 81 appearances during his three-year spell on Tyneside.

Deployed in a number of positions across defence and midfield, he represented the Magpies in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup, scoring once - against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Boxing Day last season.

Exactly right.

It seems like we're already being left behind on transfer targets, which seems to be a worrying reprise of last year's mistakes - with or without the Gallic invasion of January.

We may well have strengthened in January but we're still weak in some key areas, and they need bolstering.

One of those is still attack. Apparently a deal is in place for Arouna Kone.

Scratch that - Kone was Sports Direct News talking balls again.

I find it bizarre that Southampton seem to have more ambition than us.

I think it has more to do with the amount of money the respective owners are willing to invest.

Pulled out the Kone deal - similar money to Bent and if we can keep Bent fit he'd be a far better buy than Kone.

And aye, Southampton have owners who are loaded.
