I remember the 1-1 draw we had with man utd when they just kept throwing random youngsters with afros on \o/

Think possebon was one of them.

A deal to bring Remy to Tyneside - a full 7 months later than planned - is reportedly close as well.

Nouveau Chateau indeed.

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta claims Manchester United have given up hope of signing Cesc Fabregas.

United have had two bids rejected for the 26-year-old despite the Spanish side repeatedly stating he is not for sale.

And amid speculation of a third bid for Fabregas, Zubizarreta told Spanish newspaper Sport that United have ended their pursuit of the former Arsenal midfielder.

Zubizarreta was quoted as saying: "Manchester United are interested in the player, but it's also true that they understand our position of not wanting to sell.

"They have renounced his signing. We aren't going to sell him."

Wenger said again today that the information that he has is that Fabregas will stay at Barcelona for one more season at least.

He also said he was going to invest big money in Arsenal squad. And that the current team will fight for the title this season.

I'm not quite so sure he's as in the loop as everyone likes to think.

Regardless, Rodgers accusing Arsenal of lacking class over Luis Suarez is hilarious.

I wasn't claiming what Wenger said as fact, but considering that he and Fabregas have a good relationship he's not exactly the most of obscure of sources. It's quite unusual for him to come out and say things like that so I doubt he would unless he was confident it was true.

I think he was just asked a question with which he answered:

'What I know is that Fabregas will stay one more year at least. If that changes, I don’t know. I’ve been told.'

Sounds like he's not certain, he was told before that Fabregas would stay another year (which he's already said) and then says that it might have changed (I presume he meant to use the past tense, the end of the quote is weird).

It's obvious, really. 'Liverpool' and 'class' go together as well as 'Tottenham' and 'Champions League football' - not very well at all.

But Wengers the one whose come out and actively said hes going to be respectful in his pursuit of Suarez, but a bid like 40 million plus £1 is hardly a respectful move.

Of course not, but its still a dick move don't you think? Especially when we've told Arsenal we wont be selling him for anything near what they're offering us.

It was just a move to try and further unsettle Suarez, which is hardly a respectful way to go about signing a player.

Bullshit.

If we thought that the minimum price we could get Suarez for is £40m + £1, why should we pay a penny more? Also, do you believe that when a manager comes out and says "we'll only accept X for this player", it's suddenly disrespectful to not just go ahead and bid what he's publicly asking for?

We've done nothing wrong. Wenger's come out and said he wants to keep it amicable and won't talk too much about it when asked, whereas your chairman comes and publicly and slags us off (which was incredibly ironic given the transfers he's authorized) and your manager comes out making comments that clearly make him seem desperate. If Liverpool were that confident about keeping Suarez then Rodgers wouldn't come out with this shit.

You really think Wenger thought that clause was a minimum fee release clause though? he knew full well what it was.

If you're going to get upset about Arsenal activating a clause, then don't put that clause in his contract.

Its the manner it was activated, that combined with the way Wenger goes on about respect and values then just forgets them soon as he has abit of money to spend.

He went nuts when Barca were after Fabregas because of how they went about it and now he's doing the same with Suarez.

'Arsenal' and 'Premiership title' classed in the same situation nowadays.
