You have a weird definition of chest, that's clearly Arbeloa's side/arm (it's also by far the worst angle of the incident, no idea why thats the one doing the rounds).

Besides, it's clearly irrelevant. It's obviously reckless, quite obviously not endangering the players safety. The common sense approach would have been for the referee to realise it was a nothing incident with a player trying to control the ball book him and let the game carry on, instead the Turkish cunt (who you can tell if you've seen a single picture of him before or after the event is the exact type who wants to be the centre of attention) decided to make a football match about him and ruin the game for everyone.

Are people STILL saying it should have been a red card?

FIFA Law 12: If a player plays in a dangerous manner in a “normal” challenge, the referee should not take any disciplinary action. If the action is made with obvious risk of injury the referee should caution the player.

That's the law. It shouldn't have been a red card, we can't change what's happened but it wasn't the correct decision. Is it really that hard?

So having your foot chest height and studs showing is now seen as not being an obvious risk to injury?

Arbeloa puts himself in danger, he runs full pelt at a player about to control the ball, in order to win a free kick, and good for him.

It's Arbeloa's fault he got kicked in the chest. The typical dirty, diving, unscrupulous foreigner.

Yes. How dare he get in the way of Luís Carlos Almeida 'English Lionheart' da Cunha trying to control the ball.

He's trying to win the ball too, obviously. And what other bollocks have I come out with?

As much as I like seeing Utd fans going apeshit trying to defend Nani, this needs to fucking stop.

I don't even know what else to add to what I've already said: it shouldn't have been a red card, the laws of the game say so, it's quite simple!

We can't change what's happened sadly.

Oh, that explains why nobody on the continent has slated the decision?

I mean apart from the reaction of some of Europe's former players and pundits, the likes of Xavi, Marca, Turkish refereee Serdar Tatli, Kompany, Balague, Hongistein, Laudrap and virtually anyone that has been asked because VP hath spoken.

Not when he clearly had no idea there was another player there, you see people raising feet very high to try and control the ball all the time

Just because he didn't know someone was there, doesn't mean that it wasn't an obvious risk to injury.

Still, I don't think it was a red card, probably a yellow.

Eh if we're going to use the "obvious risk to injury" bullshit to justify Nani being sent off then every tackle is technically an obvious risk to injury.

And most tackles don't cause broken legs or knee injuries but they can.

Was Arbeloa injured? No. Was the tackle intentional? No.

Yellow card would have been sufficient.

Probably OT but do any Man U fans know why Wellbeck gets so much game-time, particularly at the expense of the much more prolific Hernandez?

It's quite clear that even though Nani didn't intend to hurt Arbeloa, it's not hard to see why ref saw it as a red card, fucking hell get over it.

Because he's a much better player, basically.

EDITorry, that was a little more blunt than intended.

Basically, Hernandez is a great goal scorer but that's about it. On the ball outside the box he's a bit shit (but getting better), Welbeck is having problems inside the box at the minute but is one of our better players outside it, he's technically superb.

Also he's more versatile, so will get games on the wings whereas Hernandez won't.

Can we stop talking about the Nani red now please? Everything that needs to be said has been said, and it's almost unanimously agreed that it was a harsh decision. No need for the pointless squabbling now - move on.
