If this is a ploy to get rid of Pardew without paying his severance package, it's brilliant.

Now for Kinnear to have another heart attack...

Remember three days ago, when everyone wanted Pardew sacked. Now no one cares. Kinnear has completely lifted the pressure of the team. Just like he did last time.

Good to see the media have taken the high ground on this

It's not that good a ploy - Ashley has already paid Keegan ÂŁ2M damages for constructive dismissal after the Dennis Wise fiasco, although he got away with paying less than his contract was worth in 2009 due to some clause. If Pardew leaves, he'll probably sue and get his entire 7 year deal in the post. Plus more stuff about how the club "habitually lies to fans". Again.

It wouldn't be constructive dismissal. Pardew's role is the same as it was. Basically Llambias' job has been split in two, with Kinnear taking over the football side of things. and Llambias focusing on the other aspects. It makes no sense to get rid off a member of staff, by appointing another member of staff.

Am I the only one who thinks Joe Kinnear has unfinished business with Newcastle? If this were a film then we would be in the third act; Kinnear returns from his life threatening heart problems to finally secure true glory for Newcastle and put his demons to rest.

I suppose it would only veer into this territory if Kinnear picks the team for the odd game, or tells them how to play, or does what Wise reportedly did and make no attempt to sign the players the manager actually wanted.

Turns out Kinnear wasn't lying about Llambias - he has resigned.

Maybe he really is called Lambeezy after all.

Joe Kinnear has pulled out the deal to sign Douglas which was supposed to be wrapped up today on a free transfer.

Era of incompetence begins....

Yep, I'm sure he blocked the move last summer as well. Why would Newcastle be in the process of signing him anyway, if Newcastle were planning a change in management?

Because he's an excellent centre-half.

Deal was in place with the former management structure and the new management structure has blocked the move.

Not that hard to understand really.

Because why would Ashley instruct the old management to make signings, if he's planning to make changes?

It's hardly an assuring start tbf.

Bet he signs for another Premier League team and turns out to be a beast.

One newspaper is saying that this move led to Llambias resigning and Graham Carr considering his position.

It could well be speculation and there's a chance that it is given there's nothing cited. But by the same token, the way things work at this damn club means it's probably true. After a while it all feels like a massive pile-on on nauseating lunacy.

Because they'd have sat down and identified a bosman signing in January or maybe even before that?

I would have thought if Newcastle were that determined to sign Douglas we would have done it in January. Either by signing him permanently, like we did with Gouffran and Sissoko, or by signing him on an agreement for next season.

Llambias has apparently resigned over this. But Kinnear said Llambias had already resigned in his Talksport interview on Sunday. Llambias has also apparently been at his holiday home this week. There seems to no quotes. 'Just SSN understands'.

Shearer criticises the management this morning. This afternoon, they rename the club bar that was named after him

Although they are changing it to "Nine", which sounds shit and "trendy"
