This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 15 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 26 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM15.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install v2.0 of this file (if you are installing a previous version please use the 1500 folder instead of the 1530 folder:
Step 1: Go to
PC
Slightly more detail in this post
Linux
Step 2: Delete the edt and lnc folders from the folder above
Step 3: Copy the edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and select the folder named "FM15 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net v2.0".
Step 7: Paste the circled folder directly into the folder mentioned in step 5.
Step 8: This should be what your editor data folder looks like. There may also be a config.xml file in this folder and can be safely retained; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Club names (including the German ones) are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Any ideas?

I've extracted this pack, along with the logos & faces megapacks.
When news items are shown - should the icons for the corresponding outlet be shown as well?
i.e. logos for BBC Sport, Sky Sports etc?
At the moment, it just shows the Organisation name with a blank space to the left of it which doesn't look normal.

As being the ones that affect the database, even then, there are just two teams left (Albirex Niigata, who are still greyed out and Cerezo Osaka, who lack a full team.) In the databased that have an issue.
Understandably, as Widehawk's database is unofficial, I may be unable to acquire some fix on the matter (I have also mentioned this on Widehawk's thread, so to make sure there's no conflict on their end either) but just wondering if any of those files above could contain something that could commit to conflicting with a custom database and if so, where would I look so I wouldn't be taking time from you.
Aside from that; everything works fine with no other issues – even with the JL1 matter – there's no other conflicts that I've noted. Once again, stellar work!

A new window should open called "Football Manager 2015 - Properties".
Click on the "LOCAL FILES" tab, then click the button "BROWSE LOCAL FILES...", this should open a finder window open at the fm15 game files.
Now you should be able to double click data -> db -> 1500 and then remove the edt and lnc folders and copy the edited folders from the original download at the start of this thread.

Which changes are you talking about?
You've deleted the dbc folder, which is not referred to in the installation instructions and which you should have read more carefully. Restore the folder from your Recycle Bin or verify the integrity of the game cache from Steam. Read my post about this matter on the previous page on how and what to do to solve this issue.
Same goes for you.
I believe using any editor data files with your save game will disable your game leaderboard.
v.1.1 solved this issue.
I was not aware of this - thx
I don't use a Mac so I have no idea. Perhaps a fellow Mac user can help or Google for how to find the steamapps folder in your OS.
What names? Which Brazilian players?
I included a guide on how to find this. Does it not apply? Not a Mac user, so can't really tell...
German team names look fine to me
As for the Portuguese three letter code, you are right and I will correct it for any future update.
The edt and lnc folders should not go there. Google to find how to access that folder on Macs as I can't really help, not having a Mac myself.

As far as I can tell, this download has two parts. The `ect` and `lnc` folders which are copied into the actual game's folder. These only take affect when starting a new game, and if they subsequently change, they shouldn't affect the save game started with them.
There is also the folder copied into your documents folder, this is save game compatible, but shouldn't be changed by a software update pushed by steam.

legend thanks for that pal, works a treat

I don't believe there's any way to show icons for media sources.
You evidently haven't done everything correctly then, have you?
Please post a screenshot of your data>db>1500 folder and your editor data folder so I can see what you've possibly done wrong.
It's a quirk (or bug) in the editor that multiple data-heavy editor data files have a way of creating unexpected conflicts such as this. Not sure there's a lot that can be done, unfortunately, but I'll try to have a look.
I'm afraid you've got this the wrong way round. The lnc files can be changed in the middle of a save-game and changes will take effect. Editor data files need a new save game to be started to take effect.
Could you clarify which OS this fix applies to please? So that I can add it to the OP...
jonnybarnes
My mistake then.
I told Brenden a way of finding the actual game data Steam installs by using the steam app itself, in theory should work on any OS.

Just open Football Manager 2015/data/db/1500
There you can find it. Hope can help.

I tryied for the romanian league ... and it didn`t change a player name in any team ... and after that I've searched in the english and italian league and the same problem!
Ingerasu
I got the same version and it doesn`t work ...
pinillota
I'm having some problems. I applied the patch but always appears fake players names on every team and I don't now what's wrong. I make every step correct but players names are always fake.
jonnybarnes
Are you starting a new game after applying the patch?
pinillota
Yes, always a new game, but still the same, autogenerated names.
jonnybarnes
Have you installed FM15 with Steam?
mons
As explained many, many times, club name changes will only apply when starting a new game. There is a workaround in the first post of this thread, however.
Thankfully, it seems not to work. Thankfully, neither of you will be posting here again

Hope you are not using a pirated version! If so why would you expect help from forum members?
mons
What should the new short name be then?
pezzahawkins
Also, when clicking on squad page it just says 'squad' which is where i'd expect it to display the short name.
Can you please help me clear this up.
Thanks in advance.
