Thanks for everything Clint. You my boy.

My fourth season at Dongya was one I am hoping is going to solidify what has gone on in the previous season. The squad that has been assembled is now a competitive one. The squad has the right mix of youth and experience. Champions League is what I am looking to target again, be nice to defend the crown and show it was not just a fluke that we won it last season. League wise, it would be excellent if we can win the title. Then the aim will be to look to continue to play a positive and popular brand of football that will draw the crowds in.
Fantastic start to the season. A fantastic 5-0 victory over rivals Shanghai was a brilliant morale booster to the campaign. Shandong also felt our wrath and in reality we knew from this point onwards we were going to have a great season. We were held by Senke, a club who we tend to feed out many of our youngsters so it was disappointing to draw to them but it was also pleasing to see so many giving their parent club a fight. We ended the season well, ensuring we went through the league season undefeated. A marvellous achievement for the club.
Winning the league by 11 points was brilliant. Wang scoring 18 goals was crucial but also the contribution from Waterson and Qi in ensuring us winning the league in such a comfortable fashion.
A cracking start to the season with a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Guangzhou. We were far the better side and deserved the win. Another trophy in the cabinet.
Straight forward really in the CFA Cup. Again it was pleasing to beat Guangzhou quite comprehensively. Feng Qi stealing the show in both legs of the final.
I didn't really use that many players, some youngsters filled in but as you can see I got a lot of the players to play most of the games this season. That really helped us be a far more consistent team. The squad quality is improving with each passing season.
Just the one major deal out which gained us a million pounds. For the rest, the biggest name is Ben Taylor. Signed mid way through the season and was amazingly dropped from the Australia squad, he was vital when I won my second World Cup with Australia, to see him not being included was gut wrenching. Taylor of course would bring his much valuable experience to the squad and to pick him up on a free was superb. He was a real vital signing for us.
Finances are looking very healthy and the good news, things are continually on the rise. I take little notice of the £8m in red potentially. That is due to the financing of facilities. The club as been steadily been making a profit throughout the season, making more when Champions League games roll around. Looking very positive.
Key Player Profiles:
Jiang Jin was instrumental in being a rock in the defensive midfield role. He was crucial in many areas, in particular with key passes and tackles. Did not score that much or assist that much, but everything good that come from us usually started with this man.
Waterson again was class, but suffered from the usual spells of injury and as a result he didn't score as much. However on the continent, Waterson was prolific. Cannot fault that.
Song a consistent performer did really well for us this season and actually has performed well for us over the time he has been with us. Some of his technical and mental attributes are dire, but the system we played allowed him to flourish.

Next Season
More about the future in the next post coming up. An offer that I just could not let go by has just arisen. The final chapter is potentially here.

So the deal is there to move across town to the local rivals. The last piece of the jigsaw in this career. Four happy years at Dongya but I guess now its time for me to move on. I don't think this opportunity will come again for a while by which stage I will be to old to really sign for them. They have offered me a good deal, there is some money there, and I will look to take advantage there to raid Dongya for some of their prospects.

Cheers man. Be nice to sign off with the career here.

The final chapter. My time with Dongya will be a fond one and I felt the time was right to move on. I had achieved pretty much everything I could at the club. Turning them from a near bottom of the league side to one of the biggest sides in China, as well as making waves on the continent. Two Champions Leagues trophies almost took us to the brink of despair at times but was very much worth it. The ever improving academy was providing a high amount of quality footballers and if the right manager comes in then the potential structure is in place for a long future. However I doubt this will happen. Managing the finances was also key. Taking the club with little money and taking them to a club with some strong finances is a good thing for the club. Success has followed wherever I have gone in Asia. I hope that will ring true here in Shanghai. The final journey beings here.
History of the Club
Shanghai Greenland Shenhua Football Club is a professional Chinese football club that currently participates in the Chinese Super League. The term shen hua literally translates as "the Flower of Shanghai" in English - shen is one of the alternative names of Shanghai and hua means flower in Chinese. The team is based in Kangqiao, Shanghai and their home stadium is the Hongkou Football Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 33,060.
The club's predecessor was called Shanghai F.C. and they predominantly played in the top tier, where they won several domestic league and cup titles. On 10 December 1993 the club was reorganised to become a completely professional football club so they could play in the 1994 Chinese Jia-A League season making them one of the founding members of the first fully professional top tier league in China.
Club Profile - Our nearest rivals from Shanghai and my former club Dongya form the main rivalry. Sadly as I mentioned previously we won't play Shenxin any time soon. Beijing and Shandong are others that we class as ruvals. Despite the clubs short history it has plenty of icons but no legends and hopefully we shall see more emerge in the near future. The finances are secure and I want to continue to ensure they are secure. My aim now is to put this club as the biggest club possible.
General Info - The club has been pretty consistent in the last few years. Tending to feature near the top of the table. Which can only mean positive signs for the club. Lille are our main affiliated club and potentially a link I am looking to tap into. Our rep is typically average for a club of our size, but I would like to see that change in the near future.
Manager Profile - The man that doesn't age some will say. As mentioned previously things are levelling off and just solidifying. My reputation is continuing to grow. In this final stage, this is potentially the last time I will show this screen.
Facilities - Our stadium is of a very good size, and in a very good condition. So I won't need to worry about it. The facilities are good and hopefully I can make these top class. Things can start to look good here.
Squad The squad possesses some good talent but will need to be improved upon. Going to look to raid my main club in Australia to develop some young talent on the cheap. Whilst also going to raid Dongya for the players who have minimum release clauses in their contract. May not be a popular idea but I know there is some great talent there that I would like to take advantage of.
Staff - Backroom will be addressed, with old Clint Dempsey not going to be joining me on this leg of the journey. I will quickly need to look to find a trustworthy steed. I need to add some more talent in there. But again this will boil down to what I can get hold of.
Finances - Things look positive here, I want to however ensure that this continues. If I let things slide then things can quickly spiral out of control.
Hall of Fame - Getting closer now to chasing down Luis Enrique. Last time round I was some 900 points shy, now I'm near 400. Hopefully I can crack this last 400 odd points before my time comes to an end.

Chinese league hasn't moved but it has consolidated itself as one of the best leagues in Asia.
The clubs rep is not bad, 4th best club in China, soon to be best. Well eventually.
Cymro
Not considered amongst the favourites. But I am hoping with the squad I have I can at least be a title challenger in my first season.
Board is not putting any pressure on me. Not sure I will take that.

And in the short space of time ... a take over.
Hopefully he will provide some cash.
No news on cash then ...
Game on!

Oh no ... new signing and he's gone for the season. Tidy.

New dawn in Shanghai. The journey is almost at an end. This season is all about establishing ourselves as a force in China and getting us into a position to play continental football. I am very fortunate to be managing this club. I am hopefully going to do them justice during this stint here.
At the start of the season we found it hard to gather form to beat sides. Drawing many games and conceding crucial goals deep in games. However form did pick up and we managed to gather momentum that drove us towards that all important title. The defeat against Guangzhou didn't stop our pace and march towards the pole position. Getting a big win over former club Dongya was one of the particular highlights of the season. Apart from that, earlier on there were little big victories as such. We almost threw away the title, drawing again and finishing off as we started. Something I will be looking to address come next season.
Only three point gap in the end and we got away with it. Only major force in the league was our goalkeeper Zhao Méng. This lad was unbelievable. More about him down below.
Almost faltered in the cup. Zhongji in the 4th Round almost spoilt the party. Yang the man had to bail us out in what is now know as 'Cymro Time'. But once we saw Zhongji off on penalties it was all about us. Beating Shandong and then Tianjin to claim the cup.
Comfortable victory over the leagues best. A fantastic way to wrap the season up. Hopefully can take this show of strength and dominance into the next season.
The squad has some good quality in its ranks. However there is still much improvement needed, with the financial backing and some of the youngsters signed it won't be to long before the squad looks a lot stronger.
Unusual in some ways but yes there has been some money spent. I am very happy with my transactions, going back to Dongya to raid for some of the youngsters may not be 'ethical' with some FM players but they are quality and I wanted them to finish the journey with me.
Finances are on the rise. The takeover has seen some small cash injections. I am looking to take advantage of this and fund transfers and facilities. With the aim of building as much of a home grown squad as possible.
Key Player Profiles:
Wang as ever, when fit he scored. My assistant manager did not rate him that much and therefore began slowly. He did find form and started to score goals but as soon as his form picked up, he picked up injuries and this cost him playing time. But when he played he was class.
Welcome to the boy wonder. My new Frank Duffy. Came through the academy at Dongya and I decided to being him with me. He is my main penalty taker and free kick taker. As you can see above, he has scored some goals throughout the season. But his glove work throughout the season was impressive too. I have high hopes that he will continue to progress and be an elite keeper on the continent.
Zheng Meng, the playmaker has been another player who has been outstanding. 13 goals and 8 assists in the league and was a major force during the season. Expecting him to be capped by China next season, if not then there is something stupidly wrong.

Next Season
Potentially end this journey with a bang. The light is at the end of the tunnel, over 10,000 views but seemingly little interest. I think the journey has run its course. Expect to win the league and probably mount a serious challenge for the Champions League.

Not as much as I do. Sadly the laptop that had FM installed with this save had a melt down after Windows 10 update. Still not fixed, and unlikely to be done before FM16. Cheers for reading though.
