I don't think its the writing up that kills the commitment for me. The fact that I get distracted to do other saves outside of this one. Add that some of the clubs I managed were just the fact that I was just managing them to tick off that I managed in that county. That was never something I intended to do and looking back shouldn't have done so. Personally should have stuck for at least another season with Brisbane Roar.
Cymro
Think it is a fair assessment. I do believe that with the signings I have made are ones that will help us compete. It depends how we fair against the likes of Seoul and Jeonnam.
Cymro
Realistic. Champions League target is going to be interesting too.
Cymro
900 games! Took me by surprise. Should not be to long now before I hit a 1000.

Cheers Itchy!
Will be signing the top three players. Look like great prospects despite what the stars show. Great intake.

Travelling South from the North was going to be an all to familiar transition. Having spent previous saves in South Korea I knew roughly what to expect. South Korea in FM is usually dominated by about three sides. These sides have a bit of money and very much the pulling power. Now and then you will see a lower side come in for a season mix it up and disappear. Pohang are different, well on this journey they are. They haven't been as successful as they have been in real life. Struggled in this save. Hopefully my aim is to turn this around. We are looking to play an attractive brand of football, something the board do not want to see but I am sure with the results that come with it they will be converted.
Bright and bubbly we started. Lots of positives on show. Some really big results to some of the bigger sides in the league. We however struggled towards the back end of the season. What affected us was the run of the Champions League, KFA Cup and league. The squad possesses some old legs and these guys picked injuries up. We have to look to address this to ensure we don't struggle again at the back end of the season.
Dominated the league from the off. Won by a tight margin. At one stage we almost threw it away. Needed a bit of quality to keep us there. Next season we must improve upon this.
Defended the Cup that the club won last season. Progress to the final was pretty straight forward. Not much to trouble us. The final against Ulsan was a tense one, mostly down to the fact we couldn't take our chances. We were by far the better side mind. Looking to make it three on the bounce next year.
Heartbreak in the Champions League semi finals when the old club F Marinos came back and haunted us. We found progress easy to the semi final really. Having to rotate players at regular intervals to ensure freshness was tough. We just about scrapped a draw in the home leg of the semi final. But we were simply outclassed in the away leg. We had to chase and we couldn't chase to save us. Disappointing but we cannot win everything all the time. It has sent a good benchmark for next season. What I have found is that the squad needs bolstering in areas to help us with depth towards the crunch part of the Champions League.
The squad was simply outstanding. Lot of good and consistent performers. However the main concern for me was the amount of injuries that the player easily picked up. I am looking to bolster the squad to ensure we possess a good amount of quality and depth in the right areas.
Money spent little recouped. Biggest deal for me was Anthony Thurtell. Asian Cup young player of the tournament was signed based on his potential re-sale value. He hasn't settled that well in his first season at the club. Failing to break the striking partnership. However there is a deal in offing for next season. Bit of a hero from my time in Australia. Some will argue a player who has not fuffiled his potential. I am excited to be reunited with him. More to come.
Finances are steady. I said to myself I wasn't going to spend. However this changed quickly. Also investment into facilities has meant that the balance has rarely fluctuated. Hoping next season to bring some stability to the finances. However I cannot promise this. The need to address players in certain positions will see us hit the market hard again.
Key Player Profiles:
Holding midfielder Young-Tae has been an outstanding player for us this season. Has been solid in midfield for us. He has provided plenty of assists from midfield. Would be nice if he scored more but his contribution elsewhere has been brilliant. Hoping next season we can hold onto him. There has been some major interest from Europe. I am looking for some serious money for him. Only a high offer will see him leave regardless.
Dong-Can is another South Korean who has been immense for us. Young-Tae's partner in the central midfield slot. He has been another rock and a player who likes to take the team forward. Despite playing only 15 league games, he scored 9 goals. Injuries has cut short part of his season but when fit he has been outstanding.
Chun-Suk was our man behind the strikers. The man in the Mick McCarthy hole role. Suk another player who could not stay fit. Hopefully next season he will stay that bit more fit however I hold little faith that this will be the case. Likely to look for another player to help us in this area. Be it foreign or home grown. Might chuck one of the youth lads in.

Next Season
Next season I am looking to build upon this season. Like to see us make the Champions League final, if not win it. We got to find a way to stop that end of season slump. Hopefully I might blood one of the youth intakes into the squad too. Think it would be beneficial to the club not least my philosophy that has been agreed by the board.
Cymro
This is how the club rankings look in Asia. All the sides there are above us. We are at the bottom of the mountain, looking to climb.
Cymro
Signed the deal as they were willing to remove play defensive football.
Cymro
Remember this guy? Signed on a hefty deal that could rise to £2.5 million. I couldn't resist the deal. He was released by Brisbane and picked up by Wellington Phoenix. His last season was nothing spectacular, seemingly to have fallen from grace. Looking forward to re-kindle his love for the game and to see if I can get him to fulfil his potential again.
This is how he originally looked as a fresh faced 16 year old player.

Cheers Dan. Got to build on the first season.
Sad days. 13 years ago they were dominating Iranian football. Now they are out. Sad sad day.
Cymro
So the youth system for a while at the club has produced. Produced some good talent. But in recent years not been looking after the young guns. Hopefully this season will see a change for me and the club.
Cymro
Lot of promising talent in that youth squad. Looking forward to seeing these guys develop.
Cymro
After having such a good start to life in South Korea it was all down to me settling the squad. By that I mean not making many changes. Looking after what we have got and begin the road to developing the youngsters at the club. There are some ageing players here. Some will probably have this last season in their legs before moving on. Therefore finding their replacements amongst my youth is crucial. Defending the league title is something that is high on the agenda as is correcting the wrongs we made in the semis of the AFC Champions League last season. Easier said than done. But we have to look to improve ourselves. Just a note made a mess on getting screens so missed out on getting stats for squad list and best player performers.
Fast and furious we started, slow and almost not steady how we ended. Lots of positives on show. Some really big results to some of the bigger sides in the league. We however struggled towards the back end of the season. What affected us was the run of the Champions League, KFA Cup and league. The squad at times lacked some character which is worrying and will need to be addressed. Obviously I have not learnt from last season.
Won by a brilliant 17 point margin. An outstanding goal difference too. If I was going to complain it would surely be that I did not hit a 100 goals. But you can't have everything.
Defended the Cup that the club has won over the last couple of season. Progress to the final was pretty straight forward. Not much to trouble us. The final against Seongnam was not a brilliant one, mostly down to negative tactics of our opponent really. We were by far the better side mind. Looking to make it four on the bounce next year.
Could we do one better and make the final this year? Sure we could. Yet it was almost a case of Déjà vu. We progressed tidily from our group and into the depths of the knockout rounds. Our form Away was slightly concerning. But we were able to hold ourselves together. I feared the worse in the Semi Finals when we drew F Marinos again. Not only that. When we lost the first leg I knew it was going to be a tough. We brought them back to the Steel Yard and we dispatched them comfortably. Ensuring the club could go and challenge for their fourth AFC Champions League title, some 20 years after winning their last. It was surely scripted. Frontale managed to hold us at their thanks to a Fergie Time goal, then at home we battered them just we allowed them to sneak back in. However we were the best side on the day and we managed to come away with the title. Yes!
Came away with a credible third. Would have liked to made the final. Sadly we drew the might of Europe in the Semi Final and routinely got put to the sword.
Keen provided the biggest outlay. However other deals happened to bolster the depth of the squad and also bringing the transition of South Korean players into the club. Looking to have the best South Korean talent at the club and not to sign foreign players if I can help it. Plenty of deals out on loan and on frees but decided just to show the cash deals.
Finances are steady. Hoping next season to continue to bring some stability to the finances. I am lucky that we are progressing well at the tail end of the season which tends to right off the small losses from throughout the season. Might need to look to sell or offload high earners to maintain a positive balance.
Key Player Profiles:
Thurtell was something else last season. His goals were amazing and I think the addition of Keen has meant that Thurtell has adapted well to life in Pohang. Easily the best player for us this season. Possesses some fantastic stats for this league, I am sure he will be moving to Europe sooner rather than later.
37 league goals in 30 league games is plain old silly. He played extremely well. 12 Man of the Matches award and his 14 assists provided others with the opportunities to score. He struggled to settle last season however he seems to have adapted and playing beyond his ability.

Next Season
Next season I am to continue to build upon the strong season we have had here. There is still plenty to do. Now need to defend the AFC Champions League title. Last time we won it was 20 years ago exactly. So now is as good as ever to go and try and win back and defend our crown. Plenty of good teams in Asia at the moment. We must not get complacent.

That is a fair point fella. Although I don't agree with South Korea being first choice. I know the Australian players very well and the class that is coming through now are some of the lads I over saw whilst at Brisbane.
Ye offering big bucks. Think they have to as they know Australia is pretty appealing.
Australia have a handy U21s side but I know that my academy side in South Korea are churning out players.
Cymro
Took the Australian job. A few reasons why. They have a very good squad and lots of good players in the right areas. South Korea doesn't have. I know the current crop of Australian internationals well from my time at Brisbane. The South Korean side I am still coming to terms with the countries players. The Australian Youth are looking strong so I went with these guys. Also believe that Australia are sleeping giants and in 3 years time could be a competitor at the World Cup finals.
Cymro
How Australia looks. Some big names here and some recognisable ones. Ranked 17th in the World but on the climb. Not won much in recent times but have been in the finals of competitions quite a few times. Just not coming away with silverware.
Highest ranking was 6th in 2025. Not long ago 8th. Can reproduce the form we will get there again.

Ye got Jai Keen and Anthony Thurtell. Both good players but internationally wise there are a couple of players who are far superior. These guys will be crucial for me when playing for Australia. Both will know the style of football so will likely get quit ea big of favourable game time along with it.
Cymro
The board want it all ... bar the KFA Cup. Lot of work to retain all trophies. A good challenge here to build a dynasty.
