This thread will be about my first career adventure with the new football manager 2013 version. I will be aiming on building a good career record, winning as many trophies and awards as I can, while keeping the clubs finances in check, along with developing the local young blood talent.

Unlike my last career with Nuneaton last time out, this one will not be set around an entire team, unless I am enjoying the challenge too much. However, if I see an opportunity to progress or a setup that looks good enough for future progress, then I will be taking the offer. The career isn't limited to a certain country or club status either, so anything is possible really.

To start off with, I set myself with a Sunday league reputation and set my favourite team as Nuneaton. Despite the favoritism, I won't be commenting much about them, unless something amazing happens to them. Anyway, I did decide on a team in the end though. It is football managers club, AFC Wimbledon.

Not seen you on here for ages! How did your nuneaton one finish? Did you get bored? Good luck with Wimbledon! Also, check my story out - it has changed a bit since you last commented!

Sorry for the slow posting at the moment, I am somewhat distracted from playing this awesome game. However, I had a little go last night, which involved meeting the board and the assistant, along with sorting out which players and staff in my team belong apart of my plans for getting 'The Dons' into the next level of football.

The media prediction is 16th, but the board seem to have a more optimistic outlook on my credentials, they ask for a comfortable mid-table finish. I think that might be a fair target for my first season in charge here, but I will be hoping for a sneaky push for the playoffs at some point, but if it doesn't happen, then at the very least, mid-table should be achieved or I will leave myself for being so terrible.

After I met with the board, I met with the assistant. During the meetings, I told him I would like him to take control of the pre-match training and opposition instructions, as I am too lazy to sort those things out, but I told him it would make good experience for him. I also turned down the media, which gave me a little un-easing message, around the idea of not having them on my side in future, to back me up. Hopefully, I will do a good enough job to not need them.

Team Report

As you can make out from the team report from my assistant, the team looks pretty solid and capable of achieving the goals set from the board and media. I have decided to bring a few of the U-18s team into the senior side as there are some interesting development opportunities for them. In terms of transfer policy, I think it will be more around poaching from other youth teams this season, to fill the gaps I now have from the changes. As the first eleven looks adequate for the task in hand, it will be mainly bolstering the squad this campaign.

Comment Responses:

ACMilan1987 and George14brfc - Thanks for the luck guys, much appreciated.

Cheik it Out - Yeah I know, I decided to leave football manager until this one came out after the Nuneaton career. Well there was a computer problem or human error with re-formatting, but to cut the story short, the save was deleted in the process. I could never get bored of that one. I managed to pick up two premier league titles and Europa Leagues, and was searching out the Champions League when the game was cut short. No problems mate, will make sure to check your thread out then.

DanW19 - Thanks Dan, I know I can always rely on your comments. Hope you enjoy this story, I will also have a look at that journeyman career you've started after Cheik's to.

You do have a strong team, one that is more than capable of beating its expected finish, and thats without any new faces!
