So as per normal with FM each year, I take the time to download all the new kits, logos and faces etc, along with the licence fixes, something I have down every year since the game started. There is no way I can play it without this in game facility as it just does not feel professional.

However, for this year's version, I am having major issues. So I have added everything to the graphics folder etc as per normal, but every time I try to load up the game, once it gets through the initial adverts etc, the game freezes and then crashes whilst on the game loading page (where you have all the foreign welcome messages in the bottom right corner). The game becomes non responsive and I end up having to force quit the game (I have a MacBook).

Im not sure where to go form here or how to get around this. Any help would be very much appreciated as I dont know if this is a problem others have encountered.

Thanks

Yes it does work. I removed all the downloaded files from the graphics folder and it loaded with no issues.

Any idea how to work around this?

Nothing appears on the actual game, but on the Mac 'Force Quit' window, I get the following message:

Football Manager 2017 v 17 . 1 . 2 f 903034 (not responding)

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Got them from the sortitoutsi site. Do you need the specific folders?

How long are you waiting before manually exiting the game? I suspect it's just loading the graphics and maybe taking you a while because you have an older PC. How large is your graphics folder, incidentally?

i read somewhere else that you need to create a sub folder inside the graphics folder and put the files in there:

First step: Go to the following directory: Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2017/

Second step: Now, create a new folder named “graphics“. Then, inside the graphics folder, you should create a new folder named “facepacks” [graphics is necessary, the names of subfolders inside graphics are not important, as I have not "facepacks" but "Megapack 7.0" and "Megapack TCM15"]

Third step: Open the .zip or .rar file (with WinRar), and extract the content to the following directoryocuments/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2017/graphics/facepacks

Fourth step: Start Football Manager 2017 and go to Preferences -> Interface and untick Use Caching to decrease page loading times, and tick Reload skin when confirming changes in Preferences.

Fifth step: Press Confirm button.

I have left it for maybe 10 minutes then had to force quit. Altogether the graphics folder, which includes the face mega pack, logos and kits, is abut 8-9 Gb.

Can you remove the graphics then load the game?

Once it loads normally, put the graphics back in its previous place, go into the preferences and have them in this manner:

Click Yes or OK to the subsequent message. Be prepared to wait: on slower computers I've had to wait up to 15 minutes for the game to load at times.

Once it loads, re-enter the preferences and tick the use skin cache button. This should help ensure the above loading time wait is not as long in any future instances.

Have just tried this. Was able to reach the preferences page, then came out of FM, moved the packs back into the games graphics folder, went back into FM, then when I unticked and ticked the relevant boxes, clicked on 'Reload Skin'. I waited for 20 minutes for this to load but it just kept on loading without finishing and going back to the game menu page. In the end it became a non responsive program.

Have also checked the files I have downloaded and these are no different to the ones a get every year. In fact I have not changed anything that I normally do, so really have no idea as to why it does not want to load once I place the downloaded packs in the graphics folder.

Just try adding a few at a time and see how that goes, rather than 9GB in one go.

Also having the same problem. Any fix would be greatly appreciated as I have hardly played the game since getting it in January as a result.

I'm also on a Mac.
