Installation Instructions
1. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using Steam on Windows?
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. Although it is for an older version of FM, the steps are still the same. You need to use Winrar (or a similar program) to extract the downloaded file.
This is what the MP folder should look like for the respective version of FM you're using:
Anything beyond the blue line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.
The preferences should look like in the below screenshot:
To get them to look like this, navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.
Choose the advanced tab (the blue square within the screenshot above) and select all from the drop-down menu on the right (the red square within the screenshot above).
Scroll down to the interface section near the middle of the list, where you are to make sure that:
• the “Use caching to decrease page loading times” box is unticked
• the “Reload skin when confirming changes in Preferences” box is ticked
After clicking confirm, it may take a few seconds or minutes for all the graphics to be loaded and you should now see all the graphics you have downloaded appear in your save game.
Once your skin is reloaded, you can re-tick the "Use Caching to Decrease Page Loading Time" button so that the splash screen at the start takes a lot less longer to load. However, the above process needs to be undertaken every time you add graphics to your game to ensure that the game "reads" them.
2. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using a Mac OS?
From FM20 onwards, there's been a substantial change to how Mac FM documents are stored. Previously the files would automatically go in the Documents folder here:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
Now the files will instead appear in the following location:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 202x -> graphics’ (create the last folder if necessary
Anything beyond this path line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.
The preferences should look like in the below screenshot:
To get them to look like this, navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.

3. I don’t want to have the megapack in the default user data folder – can I place it elsewhere and how would I do so?
You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.
The above step does not apply if you’re playing on Gamepass, in which case the user data location has to be the default one (i.e. Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 202x)
It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
4. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using Gamepass?
If you're using Gamepass, then you have to use the default user data folder - point 4 above does not and can not apply to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you're not a premium member, it is recommended that you download the base megapack via torrent by going to our cut-out megapack download page. After which, you should then download all the update packs released to date and apply them chronologically.
If you're a premium member, just download the most recent complete pack.
If you already have a version of our Cut-Out Faces Megapack installed, then click "Download Latest Changes" and you'll be presented with a list of all the updates we've released since you've last downloaded a file. Simply download any you might have missed, starting with the oldest.

Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.
Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.
These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.
Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
The likelihood is that you've put the iconfaces in the faces folder, or used the wrong config file for each folder. As a result, the smaller images (in 25x18) are being upscaled to be displayed in the person's profile, hence the blurring. Re-install the update pack again, making sure you put the contents of each folder in the right place.
Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
To get them to show, you should individually download the cut-out faces that you want from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

I re-downloaded and applied the files and it seems to work now. I suspect user error may have been the cause!

I've not got 15 yet, my GF has got it me but won't let me have it until xmas the cowbag!!
Just been looking on EBay and typed in FM15 and came across a disc which has got the megapack of faces and every other graphic on it, it's £6.
I've managed to deleted everything FM related from my laptop since I used 14, so what do people think to this ...

I've extracted those extra files and they now sit in Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2015 > Graphics > Faces. However, within that 'faces' file there is a further folder that contains the updates I have just done. Having done the re-loading skin parts as per the guidelines, and ensuring the right boxes are ticked and un-ticked, I hoped it would be fine.
However, I'm now noticing that lots of images previously showing in my game (on 6.0) are now not showing after what I have done today to get 7.01 - so something has clearly gone wrong.
I didn't realise that I could actually make it worse than it previously was, but after hours and hours of effort because of my poor internet facilities, this seems to be the case.
I know it's not the packs that have the error, and I do have all the download folders 6.01 to 7.01 inclusive on my system now. I was confident I had extracted them correctly too, but now feel sure it's something to do with the location of the folders. How that's removed so many of my old faces, I have no idea - and I haven't been able to find a new face that was previously missing either - so it really isn't going well so far.
Hopefully you can set me right again, because I can't get any enjoyment from FM until I see all faces again (right now, even getting back to how I was at 6.0 would be OK).
Cheers in advance, and sorry for inability to work this out myself.
mons
The bit in bold is what's wrong. You should have one folder and one folder only with ALL the images in it; no sub-folders.
Copy the contents of each update pack in order into the "main" MP folder, overwriting when prompted.

Thanks for the fast reply and solution Mons. Not sure how/why a different file was created and will try and correct this later.
Cheers.

I can't see most of the faces in game. I have already manually added a xml file to the facepack. What to do? It's really fustrating!
mons
That's your mistake right there. Why would you do that? The existing config works perfectly well with the full pack.
How many images do you have in total?

How many images in total do you have in your megapack folder? Can I have a screenshot of the contents of your megapack folder please? Please make sure that both the path and the amount of images within are clearly visible. Perhaps I can spot what's wrong....

This pack, and all graphical add-ons, can be added during an existing save game

I now seem to have the faces in the (one) right folder but new faces 6.01 to 7.01 aren't appearing - I tested it using an ID for a player added to pack 7.01, as verified by your 'search the cut out player faces link'.
Some of the images in my folder show recent dates so I can tell these are 'new pics', and some image numbers now have two versions (I don't care which one is used as long as one is anyway, so assume that's not a problem). More importantly, I also now have two config files (the second one dated 7 Nov 2014). Should I remove the first config file from this folder so that only one config remains (the newer, bigger one) or is that not likely to be the reason why it's not working for me?
* I tried, once again, to upload the complete 7.01 pack from scratch, and after 12 hours I got to 75% - however after another two hours this only progressed to 77% and then said it had been completed. I know that's not the case, so didn't bother extracting it across. I can't go through that agony again

Sorry for the offtopic, but I cannot understand the facepack. There are 17 parts to download, but they all seem to contain the same pictures. What's the point to download all the 17 parts if the information is the same? Or am I missing something? I made the folder "graphics" and then "faces" and on every .rar file it asks me to overwrite it. I am probably doing something wrong but it seems that all the .rars contain the same pictures... Could you please give me a hint how to do it correctly.
Thanks in advance,
Sto

I don't trust that "one and only folder" rule. Just put any subfolders at any name you want in your "graphics" source folder (in your personal data, whatever the place you choose).
If it doesn't appear in-game, check the options (classic mistakes : skin options to pick / unpick, folder choice for user data...)
It doesn't work either ? So we're on the same page...
-is it a SI /FM problem (like we're not allowed to add pics anymore) ? Don't think so (logos and kits appear).
-is it a Sortitoutsi Megapack / update pack / config file problem ? I DO think so (cuz' the only facepack allowed to show is my "Japan" one, featuring players from J-League, and not from Sortitoutsi...
Maybe Sortitoutsi should review their 2015 packs. Just sayin'... Many players have exactly that same kind of problem, but they always think about that "folder place" thing, here.
Any (new) suggestions ?

Not sure if you've solved it by now, but if you apply the license fix files correctly, then the issue is definitely fixed.
If you have done things correctly, then you should not have a case where some image numbers have two versions. Moreover, you should only have one config file and not 2. When you add update packs to your megapack folder, please ensure that you overwrite everything when prompted. At the end you should have 152k+ images and a single config.xml. Anything else, and you've installed the file(s) incorrectly.
That sound very strange to me. I can't be sure 100% since the files are auto-generated by the uploading site, but I very much doubt whether each parts contains the same images as there wouldn't be much point in that.
Can you post links to two separate packs which you have downloaded and which seem to have the same files so that I can verify?
I have no idea what you're on about. The instructions are simple and perfectly clear for a reason: because they work. If you don't "trust" the installation instructions, then by all means, do it your own way. But don't come in here moaning when, surprise surprise, it doesn't work!
Yes, you need to have all the files in one folder and one folder only, and no, you are wrong when you say that the config file released with each update pack contains only the images in that pack. A cursory look at the config.xml file should suffice to see that what you are saying is grossly incorrect.
Instead of coming in here and criticising our way of making this file available, perhaps you should realise that the installation instructions used by thousands of people and over 5 or 6 versions of FM do indeed work correctly and as intended.
Of the many people I've helped in this thread, and elsewhere, the absolute majority of cases were due to user error and I'll put down a hefty bet that it's the same case with you...
What do you mean by default faces? Do you mean the "empty" faces displayed when no cutout image is assigned to them? If yes, you can download them here.
If you mean the images which come with FM, please read this post as to why it's not as easy as it seems.
Jogo Bonito
Yeah, somehow It's obviously not been done right. Not to worry, I'll wait until I get to somewhere I can do the whole 7.01 (or whatever pack it is by then) on a decent connection.
Thanks as always, the time and effort you guys go to with these extra packs really adds to the FM experience.
mons
Out of curiosity, how many images in total do you have in your MP folder?
vinceceg
No need to argue. Stay cool.
I wasn't "criticising your way of making this file available". But you did like I was, because you're convinced that i'm wrong. Like you said : "the absolute majority of cases were due to user error and I'll put down a hefty bet that it's the same case with you..."
Nice. Just reading my post ? So you're a mind-reader or something...
Seriously, I checked the 7.1 xml file and, like I said, it only contains the updated pics list. I think you don't even opened it, 'cause you think you know what's everyones trouble here (by advance and by answering it, almost automatically) : it's because we're dumb ! Yeah...
I deleted the config file provided by Sortitoutsi and created a new one (with fm xml) for both 7.0 and 7.1 subfolders inside my graphics folder.
...and "Surprise" : the faces now appear (just like faces from my other packs, from other sources - Like I previously mentioned it, in order to solve the problem's root).
It's a proof that you can have any subfolders you want in that graphic folder. And a proof that it's a corrupted xml issue.
To people who still have trouble making their facepacks appear in-game, even after checking all the original process, you'll probably solve it this way.
...until Sortitoutsi fixes their 7.x config files. So far, they'll have to read thousand other requests like mine, that they won't solve, 'cause they won't understand, keeping talking like arrogant bad teachers that we all wanted not to meet...
Bye
Jogo Bonito
Not to worry. It's only a painful failure because of the time it takes to do anything like that here.
It says 182,743 in the folder, so that's actually more than the 150,000 you guys have created. See how clever I am
Although I said I now have two config files in the folder, and some duplicates, I can definitely confirm that there aren't 30,000 duplicated faces - there are probably less than 100 where the image shows two versions.
Anyway, hopefully in the New Year I can find a place/way to do the whole pack from scratch.
mons
I have been creating the files related to this megapack since 2009, so I think I might know what I'm talking about. You may think that arrogant, but I think it sets me on solid enough ground to comment. If you've found an alternate option which works for you, then all power to you. Don't come in here moaning if it isn't working as intended if you don't use it as intended, though. The reason I know that you're not using it as intended is because you say you have two subfolders, which is not what is mentioned in the installation instructions. I know that having separate folders for update packs works if you update the config file manually, but that adds a completely unnecessary level of complexity which is beyond the technical knowledge of most users, quite apart from the unnecessary work. It's counter-logical to do so, plus it's much neater, organised and easier to have control over when you have just one folder with all the images in it, which is what I recommend.
As for your ludicrous assertion that the config file included with the latest update pack only contains the images in the update pack and not the whole pack, I actually considered that a technical issue may have caused it and downloaded the pack to verify. For one thing, it's 11MB, whereas a pack for just 3,000 images would be around 200KB or thereabouts. Secondly, if you see the very first entry in the config file included with 7.01, the UID's not included in the pack itself as per this screenshot. Neither does the second, nor the third etc etc. Basically anybody with eyes can see it's fine and you're wrong.
I'm not perfect and have made and will keep making mistakes. I don't mind criticism and can take it on board. In fact, there have been plenty of changes to this file after suggestions from users. After all, they are who we do this file for and if we can improve the FM experience for them, we'll see what we can do, within reason.
What I can't stand is somebody like you who comes in here and criticises my work and that of the many other volunteers who contribute to this pack by posting arrogant, ill-informed and demonstrably wrong assertions which may lead to doubts being cast on our work - and that I cannot accept.
To people who have trouble with this file, please post in here and I'll do my level best to try to help you sort the issue out as I have been doing since page 1 of this thread. But, rest assured, there's nothing wrong with the megapack and the update pack, despite what vinceceg may think. Thousands of people have downloaded this file over the years and I hope thousands more will in the future. As with anything, some people may experience problems - which is where this thread comes in. The reason that my replies to most issues are "by advance and by answering it, almost automatically", as you put it, is that there are a handful of issues which have been repeated through the years by many users and the probability is that any issues coming up derive from one of these handful of problems.
I've no idea how you manage to get to that amount of images at this stage
Hopefully you'll manage to get your hands on the full pack in the future
Jogo Bonito
Having followed all your advice from last night, I have now SUCCESSFULLY managed to load up the missing/extra packs again - and now I'm the proud owner of 152,989 (exactly) WORKING & VISIBLE player faces in my game.
I really do appreciate the extra effort you made to help me out. Hopefully there will be a new pack soon before I forget how to do it correctly
Thanks once again
