Another glitch? Can't have private chats with players

Since buying the game, I have been unable to have private chats with players, for example if they want first team football or I want to issue a warning or tell them they played badly.

When I click private chat, all I get is the the player box saying something like 'you wanted to see me', but then I don't have the box to respond, it's just blank.

Also, in other parts of the game, sometimes some boxes are just blank (like team instructions). This seems to just be temporary (I can reload the screen), however the player chat issue I haven't been able to resolve.

EDIT: running the notoriously glitchy (and f*cking annoying) version 14.2.
