Fifa 14 - Off Topic - FM24 - Football Manager 2024

Not convinced by the demo. The gameplay felt extremely sluggish and I was so frustrated with some of the close control in tight areas. Try to run with it? Bad touch, tackled easily. Try to control it? Bounces off you. Try to pass? Too long/ short and too wide.

I hope it'll feel better after some getting used to but my initial response isn't great.

I don't think the first touches are as bad as is being said. I think the pass weighting matters more and whereas before you could expect any player to bring the ball down and under control, under pressure, every time it seems more realistic that the ball isn't attached with a piece of elastic to your players foot.

They'll probably tighten it up to make it less frustrating in the retail game, though.

Everything seems a little better for me, passes seem to go where you intend them, the AI is much more aware defensively and shooting, if anything, is too easy.

The graphics are always a bit shit on the demo, I think, because it's a pre beta version of the game.

The animations are noticeably better (as is the crowd) so its possible that might be taking away processing power for some of the shine in 13.

I dropped the difficulty level back down to Professional and found I enjoyed it a lot more. Once you have more time on the ball you can actually put together some nice passing moves that weren't possible on FIFA 13.

CBA to start a new thread, but anyone tried the PES demo?

I really liked it, graphics are excellent and the game play feels rewarding if at times frustrating. It's badly let down by some clunky menus and it's probably a year too soon, but I really hope they can polish it up and make a real go of the next console gen.

Probably would like it even more if I wasn't so used to Fifa.

I lost 3-0 on the Ultimate team on the demo and it's the happiest I've been with a loss. The AI have actually improved and string some nice moves rather than continuously keeping the ball and going no where. Also Messi fucked me over with a trick \o/

I would say more like Battleships. It just feels so clumsy to play, you don't even need to tackle to win the ball, just run straight at them and you'll take it away, the power gauge fires up far too quick, the animation for keepers throwing the ball lasts a few seconds after you've pressed the button and the ball still appears to float in the air like the plastic ones you used to buy at the local garage for 99p. Why can't they just go back to how it used to be ffs.

I guess some people will love it but once again FIFA seems to be a long way ahead.

When I logged in I got two silver packs and two all player packs that had four bronze, silver and gold in them.

I've no idea why I got so many, I don't even think I pre-ordered the game last year.
