This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 15 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 26 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM15.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install v2.0 of this file (if you are installing a previous version please use the 1500 folder instead of the 1530 folder:
Step 1: Go to
PC
Slightly more detail in this post
Linux
Step 2: Delete the edt and lnc folders from the folder above
Step 3: Copy the edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and select the folder named "FM15 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net v2.0".
Step 7: Paste the circled folder directly into the folder mentioned in step 5.
Step 8: This should be what your editor data folder looks like. There may also be a config.xml file in this folder and can be safely retained; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Club names (including the German ones) are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
Some of these changes may not apply in FMC...

Mac users will need to go to:
How can you go to this folder?
In the Finder, click the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder pathname, then click Go.
PS: Change username for your username.

Excellent spot. It's all the fault of a stray punctuation mark ( " ), which has probably been there for a couple of versions of this file - you're the first to notice it.
It will be rectified in the forthcoming final version of this file, and that change will be save-game compatible

Thanks a lot for this, I've added it to the OP - hopefully it solves some Mac users' issues

Have thicked and unthicked use real names" on the game start it seems like the game just generates the names by default...

Great! No problem

Both downloaded files are in the folder 1500
and FM15 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net BETA version.rar is in the Editor data folder.
Any ideas?

I.E.
German clubs list -
Clicked on Dortmund for an example and it still says only Dortmund in the club name at the top of the screen instead of Borussia Dortmund -
It's the same for other countries like Portugal and Japan.
The Competition names have changed that I can see, but the Club names haven't.
EDIT: In fact actually looking more, it looks like that for every country. I had a look at France and in the Club List, it says PSG, OL, OM etc and when I click on the clubs, it says PSG, OL, and OM in the Club Name at the top of the screen too.
Works Perfect in FM14 but is not working in my FM15 Demo.

Buying an original version of the game solves the issue, I find.
You need to extract the folders using winrar, have a look at the video to see what I mean.
As explained many times, including in the thread text and the installation instructions, club name changes only take effect after starting a new game. Please make sure you install the files correctly, as per the installation instructions, as well.
Dave Arnold
And I have done all of that.
I have started a brand new game. I have quit the game, started FM15 Demo, clicked on Football Manager and selected Scotland and went through the Profile setup and started a New Game. I have also Loaded my previous Saved Game. It still comes up showing the Club Names haven't been fixed.
The files have been installed correctly. I deleted the edt and lnc folders from Program Files \ Steam \ SteamApps \ common \ football manager 2015 \ data \ db \ 1500 and moved the edt & lnc folder from the Fixes downloaded ZIP file. I moved the Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net BETA version folder to where the instructions indicate.
Competition Name Fixes work but the Club Name Fixes don't. I looked on FM14 and it works perfect there but just not in FM15 Demo.

My apologies, I hadn't quite noticed that you're referring to the demo. I don't have it, but going on past experience, it's a quickstart. Quickstart is akin to a save game, saved just before you are given the option to add the manager. Therefore, any dbc files, including the Club Name Changes file sadly, won't work with the demo. Rest assured they'll be fine with the full game.
They should work, but a version of this file will be released as soon as possible after the release of the full game.
Dave Arnold
OK thank you for your response. I was wondering if it was because I was using the Demo of FM15 and that's why the Long Names were always staying the same as the Short Names (just like my images indicate).

If you have the Steam beta version, you should have this folders:
You have to change the username (the bold text)
If you do not know what is your username on the system do this:
In the Finder, click the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type /Users/, then click Go.
After that, you should have one folder with the Home icon.
For example this folder with home icon says Gavilar then the path in your case is:
You can even try like this:
And open data, db and 1500 manually.

In this file, St Etienne's long name is identical to what you say, as is Lens' long name. For non-French users, the most commonly used name for the latter club is Lens and not RC Lens, so that's not incorrect either as far as I'm concerned. Paris FC's name is not modified by this file, so I don't know what's wrong with it.
If you have any further amendments to propose, feel free to get in touch. Please be as specific and thorough as you can. I'm open to suggestions, but being vague isn't too helpful. You are always able to edit the files yourself using the save-game editor, naturally.
As soon as possible, but I do have a life outside this forum, you know
I'm afraid I don't have a Mac so I can't really help. You'll have to Google it...

Can I edit this myself?

Fantastic work lads, used to edit all this myself in the editor. Top work

It does not mention FMC though. Since you can't run custom DB's on FMC..
edit: I have checked and it does work on FMC. Cheers

Sorry but what other folder?
Sorry if i'm being useless!!

You can edit it yourself by opening the Competition files with notepad and editing the respective entry yourself. Or you can wait for the full release to come in the very near future, with this particular change being save-game compatible.
Do you mean Bundesliga club names or the Bundesliga name itself? If the former, if you read the installation instructions thoroughly, then you'd have noticed that particular change needs to be applied before starting a new game.
It does? I'm surprised, but happy. Can you upload a screenshot please?
Open the competitions and other fixes.lnc file and delete everything apart from this section
Should do the trick.
When I upload the forthcoming full version, I'll include screenshot to explain more clearly

Hope you all like it
