FM2020 Licensing and Real Name Fix File v2.0 for FM20.3.0 [released on 20/02/2020]
This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.

Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2020 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Borussia Mönchengladbach manager has a fake name. These are all fully save-game compatible.

There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file

STEP 1.
OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2020\data\database\db\2000
DELETE the dbc , edt and lnc folders
OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2020\data\database\db\2001

OPEN
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2020\data\database\db\2030

Notes:
\Program Files (x86)\
could be
\Program Files\
depending on your set up.

Mac
OPEN

OPEN
 / Users / username / Library / Application Support / Steam / SteamApps / common / Football Manager 2020 / data / database / db / 2030
DELETE the dbc , edt and lnc folders

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down

For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

Slightly more detail in this post

OPEN

Club names are only changed on Android if you effect the workaround in this post.

STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the downloaded pack

STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.

These are what the respective folder structures should look like in the 2000, 2001, 2010 and 2030 folders:

dbc: https://i.imgur.com/0fVC763.png
dbc/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/7RK8INx.png
edt/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/XVFdLYA.png
lnc: https://i.imgur.com/V4Xap3H.png

STEP 4:
COPY the 8 files located in the EDITOR DATA FILES folder in the downloaded pack

STEP 5
PASTE to
\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\editor data

\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\\GAMEPASS\editor data

Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:

Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2020’

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.

Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
Discussion
As I suspected, this download hasn't been installed correctly. You need to delete the existing dbc, edt and lnc folders, then place the ones from this download instead. Merging them won't work.

i download this mate

If you buy a burger at McDonalds which you don't like, do you put a complaint in at Burger King??

Download the files from here, install them as per the instructions and you'll be fine.

If you have already started a save-game or you are playing FMT or you are playing the beta and wish to change German, Spanish, Italian and French club names to the correct ones, there is a workaround. However, you will lose the club nicknames.

Open the City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file with Notepad (on Windows).

I started the game with Juventus but the name of the club in my save is Zebre. I want to fix that. Someone please give me detailed instructions on how to fix this because it ain't that easy as it looks in the opening post.

I'm afraid it really is that easy. Which steps are you having trouble with?

I did everything as you wrote in the 1st post and I still have the club's name Zebre in my save game.

Can I see screenshots of which lnc file(s) you've edited and where you've placed your editor data folder? Can I also see screenshots of your 2000, 2001 and 2010 dbc folders?

You got me wrong, mate. I didn't start editing before starting a new game. I already took charge of Juventus before editing and now want to change the club's name with the Notepad. You know, the 2nd option which is explained in the 1st post?

Nonetheless, you still need to apply the files. So, can you please answer the questions: Can I see screenshots of which lnc file(s) you've edited and where you've placed your editor data folder? Can I also see screenshots of your 2000, 2001 and 2010 dbc folders?

@mons Can i overwrite this one with the previous one? And can i use it with the current save game?
Doesn't seem to have worked for me after applying the steps.

Juve are still down as being Zebra when I go to start a new game
@mons thanks a lot mate...everything is working now
Nevermind got it sorted now, just needed to put the editor data in the other folder. The video from 2013 game was helpful for anyone struggling.

What previous one?

As for using it in a save game, the main post already outlines what works in a save game, and what doesn't, with a workaround in the first post on how to get these working in a save game
Hello. This works in mobile version (android)? I dont see the folders 2000/2001... Neither the files.

I'm afraid I don't have the game on Android, so I'm a bit limited on the advice I can give. I suspect that it should be possible to apply this file, and would hope that somebody can locate the correct folder and inform me of them, so that I can guide other users on it...

There were only very minor additions in club name changes between v1.0 and v1.1 of this file. If you started a save with 1.0, these changes will not take effect. Nonetheless, I suggest downloading v1.1 so that you can benefit from the other, save-game compatible changes.
I guess not. Thanks for your help 😁

It is possible. I found information in another site dedicated to fm mobile
