Discussion

The title is utter nonsense but he's right about a couple of things - there's absolutely no way Gerrard was the second best footballer in the Premier League this season and he's been overrated hugely this year. If I'm not mistaken there were plenty of Liverpool fans who wanted him dropped a few months back. I will say the article is extremely inflammatory though and any good point he makes is followed by bullshit. He's not totally wrong though.

He's been known as 'Stevie Me' for as long as I can remember. The idea that he might be just a little self obsessed is hardly ground breaking.
He was shit against Chelsea all game but apart from that he's been really good this season whenever I've watched him anyway. Yaya was better this season though.

And [worms] lampard was better in his prime [/worms]
Yeah that bit about Toure is obvious, but the way he goes on about it is absolutely bollocks.

And fuck you Poe

Scholes >>>>>>>>>>>>>*

baiting intensifies
Footballer in self obsession shocker.
Scholes > Lampard > Gerrard.

It's really not hard.
We all know that Lampard wins on account of Scholes being a ginger.
Gerrard wins on account of being better though.

Good one.
Gerrard a cunt, wow what a shocker!

Scouse prick.
The Scholes vs Gerrard vs Lampard debate is so boring.
You can find those types of quotes for Gerrard and Lampard
You can find those types of quotes for Gerrard and Lampard

You can't.

Scholes was the best and that's coming from someone who dislikes him.

People like Pele and Zidane have came out and made outrageously untrue statements like Gerrard is the best player in the world and stuff. You can definitely find them.
Pele is just a rent a quote these days anyway. He's said a great deal of nonsense about just about anything because someones put a camera in front of his face and told him to.
Aye his opinions on Neymar just validate this.
Scholes was underrated by everyone for so long that he's become somewhat overrated.

People like to laugh at the fact that he can't tackle, but it's not a laughing matter for a CM.

I always reckon the Scholes quotes are a bit like the quotes on the atmosphere at Celtic Park.

And Scholes was never underrated he was always seen as England's best CM.

To me he is one of the super best midfielders in the world. He is an excellent player- Pelé

He is, in my opinion, the best midfielder in the world, and has a track record for delivering on the big occasions. - Graham Taylor

He has become the most influential player in England, bar none. Not that Vieira lacks anything, but Gerrard does more. - Alex Ferguson

He is undoubtedly one of the best midfield players in the world. -Carlo Ancelotti

"An excellent player, in my opinion, he is a modern player because he is a player who runs, marks, knows how to pass, cross, score goals and he is a leader on the field for Liverpool. So he is a player that I would like to have in my team." - Kaka

"Is he the best in the world? He might not get the attention of (Lionel) Messi and Ronaldo but yes, I think he just might be. He has great passing ability, can tackle and scores goals, but most importantly he gives the players around him confidence and belief. You can't learn that -- players like him are just born with that presence." - Zinedine Zidane

"Gerrard has been my idol for 10 years and is one of the best players in the world. He is the example of what all midfield players aspire to. He is always there in the heat of the battle, leading by example. He is everywhere you look - in defence, in the middle of the pitch and in attack. I would love to be close to that level." -Daniele De Rossi

Tbf they're all irrelevant as the best CM to grace the Prem was Paddy.
Scholes for Best English, maybe. Always found Gerrard and Lampard annoying, but that's more a personal thing than a question of their talents.

Luke Chadwick.
The difference between the Gerrard and Scholes quotes is that all the Scholes quotes talk about him being the best, whereas all Gerrards say he's one of the best.

Don't know about you guys but I'm glad we just about survived relegation this season.
I'd like to know how he thought Everton would end up 16th.

That payments to clubs chart is so depressing when you see that clubs like Norwich and Cardiff got over £60m for being totally shit and providing almost no entertainment.
tbf, Chelsea didn't provide much entertainment either, nor did anyone bar Arsenal for half a season, Southampton, Everton, City and Liverpool.
It is a shame that there isn't more incentive to play more attractive football, I wouldn't mind seeing a bonus point on top of the normal three for a win if you score three or more goals much like they get in rugby union for a certain amount of tries.
