@johnloch, good work in all cuts, but sources as good as these could have been cut in 250x250 instead of 180x180.

I also draw your attention to the fact that there is really no reason to leave such large spaces above and below the face. There should be no more than 2-3 pixels between the top of the head/har and the top of the cut's canvas, and the same distance between the bottom of the chin/facial hair and the bottom of the cut.

Care should also be taken to avoid the chicken-neck effect and so all cuts should include a little bit of collar. At the same time, the ideal cut only contains 2-3 pixels beneath the chin. Since in some sources, the person in the image may have a longer neck than usual, this would be quite difficult to achieve naturally. This video & this post display a simple technique of how to cut close to the chin and still display a bit of the collar.

Finally, when an image is slanting to one side like this one, it's a good idea to have it a little bit more upright by rotating it the few degrees necessary before cropping it

The reason is to utilize the screen real estate as well as possible and ensure the focus of the cut is the face as much as possible

I'm going to re-open the requests all to allow them to be cut in the larger size. No worries, I've saved your cuts in case these don't get re-cut

Cool. Thanks for your advice. I'm a newbie to these so your help is most helpful. Unfortunately I'm using some free online editor. Can't find one that comes with a rotate function yet.

You can use this page

I appreciate your enthusiasm and your interest in cutting. To be sure you're doing cuts in the style in which we're accustomed (not that there's much wrong with them so far, I have to say!), it may be a better idea to upload them in the comments of the request and tagging me so I can give you practical feedback before you upload the final cut. Save ourselves the uploading/rejecting/reuploading dance
