a) leave no snow in your cuts. Follow the guide in this video on how to spot and remove snow quickly and efficiently
b) include a little bit of collar in your cuts. This is our standard approach wherever possible to avoid the chicken-neck effect
c) if possible only have 2-3 pixels below the chin/beard and 2-3 pixels above the top of the head/hair. In cases like this where the player has a long neck, this is a good technique to shorten it while keeping it realistic and still maintain a small bit of collar. The reason for this is that the focus of the cut should be on the face and to avoid "wasting" screen real estate. 180x180 pixels aren't much, after all
You're not far off from producing cuts which are almost perfect, and following the above guidelines will see come even closer to it. Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future after taking the above suggestions on board
