I think he means more like at the end of the season with 'mid-table' teams not having much to play for.

I know, but they should be professional and try their best to win regardless. It's not like they're not getting paid enough anyway, surely they should be motivated by impressing their fans/manager and by not losing to some team who are barely staying up.

Yeah. A whole year without hockey. That would be crazy, I'm almost certain nothing like that has happened before. Certainly not in the last decade.

I feel confident that they'll sort it out, but it bothers me that this is still an issue at all.
