I've done club updates (Players, staff, attendances, finance, etc), but none of the league structure was changed. The only alterations I made were to the rules were to add in some TV dates for the Scottish Championship. I ran yours without the merge, and it worked, albeit with the Highland league team winning the playoff against the Div 2 team three seasons running, which I thought a tad unrealistic.

I'm starting my data updates over, as well as the TV dates, which I can't believe would change things. We'll see what happens. I'll get back to you.

Each time I tried to manage Spartans, and when I ran the league without managing a team, the winner of the Lowland League did not appear in the play-off. The second place team did, and naturally lost. I can't see in the rules how this would happen, but it does repeatedly.

good job, but I'd done an expansion of the Highland and Lowland leagues to 24 teams each so a bigger pool of teams might promote. I was able to merge mine with yours, but I can't get the logos to appear. I created a logos folder, and placed the files in it. Was there something I've missed? I'd love to get that sorted.

The only one that's remotely interesting in that lot are Watford. Any others (except Derby) are because you either support the team or like it easy. Want a real challenge with a good story? Blackpool, they started the pre-season with almost no players. Hearts are now recovering from about 10 years of financial silliness and are primed to return to the Scottish premiership and be competitive. You could try and last in Leeds job longer than a fortnight, or see whether a St. Mirren player will die of shame having to wear that abomination of a home strip they've currently got.

Choosing Chelsea or Man Utd, unless you support them, should earn you a well-deserved slap for being un-original.

An elite premier player might have a 155+ current ability, but in reality 135+ is more likely for the regular starters for all but the top teams with a few star players on teams like Sunderland and Burnley maybe having nearer 150-60. If you boost the EPL too much with new players with a much larger PA, the a surprising set of dominoes start to fall and transfer fees go up and soon EPL teams are winning the CL every season and England wins the world cup regularly. Seen it happen in previous releases, and learned my lesson. One or two, won't hurt, but more than that and you'll tip the first domino. Removing some players when you put one in can offset this, I've found, if they have comparable abilities.

Is anyone else's keeper just wandering around the penalty area like a drugged up teenager and not dealing with shots and crosses they should get to easily? Half my goals conceded are because shots were spilled or the keeper misjudged the cross and it hit the bar or post, and then waiting for it are two or three unmarked attackers waiting to poke it home. The AI for the user's keepers and defenders obviously needs some serious work.

I'm noticing that away teams with white strips will again end up wearing that kit even if they play a team who play in stripes or hoops. The background colour may be different in the database, but in 3D, you can't tell. Swansea's and Brentford's friendly was unwatchable. The Swansea game against Stoke was also horrible. Hearts away playing Killie, Queen's Park, St Mirren, etc were also horrible. Several years into 3D, you'd think SI would fix this. FM14 was bad enough, but was ruined for me completely when Scotland, who were considered to be the away team in the European Championship final when we played Holland. What should have been a great game to watch saw a team in yellow play a team in orange. We need to be able to choose what kits our team will wear in each game. I know this is dictated by the powers that be in real life, but even they'd look at what FM considers not clashing and suggest the development team get guide dogs.

I run a 1-4-5-0 simply because strikers contribute little. I feel this is somewhat realistic, but is spoiled due to most chances on target being saved unrealistically. The defence exists to stop the forward from getting these chances, because the keeper is at a disadvantage in a 1 on 1 situation. My tactic gives me goals and concedes few, but it's hardly realistic, so I'm not that keen on it.

I think my tactics really are based on what the engine lets my team do. I've tried 442, 4132, 4141, 4231, 541, 451, and 352 formations and variations thereof, but really any one of them are only successful situationally.

I've found that no tactic works, unless you tweak it to every opponent, which is suspect because I think that instructions and shouts really do more harm to a team setup than help. That's not that realistic. I find that strikers are largely superfluous, and really only exist to make the manager believe that they can score if a chance does happen to fall their way. I've started running a 5-5-0 and found success, but that's hardly realistic, and only served to piss off my forwards, and have my chairman complaining about the team philosophy.

I realise that FM12 was perhaps too easy, but this went too far the other way to correct. I'd tweak down the goalscoring from the FM12 engine,then include that, but keep everything else in the FM13 game. The training, contract, release and development lists, staff roles, and philosophies are just fine and dandy.

My issue is that no matter the tactics my wingers won't even try to put in a cross. It's really annoying.

I'm liking the update a lot. The processing is so fast that the news feed is often gone as soon as it appears. I hope no-one wants to actually read it. The crossing and marking issues seem to be nicely dealt with too.

It's ultra-realistic as they've now coded it so that the in the hat for drawing teams it now included a hand grenade and a bottle of Buckfast. So this draw seems plausible.
