@claassen I did not, as I grabbed your files to use in my save about 4 weeks ago. I don't think you had that file made by that time.

So that is a bummer from what you are saying. I've spent 52 hours over 3 weeks on this save, and now to find out that I'd need to start over to make it work properly is gut-wrenching

@claassen I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the New Zealand continental qualification is all messed up. I won the league and playoffs with Tasman United (Southern United came second place in both), so going into the next season, I was expecting the OFCL. Much to my surprise, neither me nor Southern was selected to go, instead it was Auckland City and Hawke's Bay.

Auckland: https://gyazo.com/07399e3d923da38e83c76edcc87d3170 Hawke's Bay:https://gyazo.com/c89509c5adbc090c1584b4407f2ccda8

Now, if you coded it so that the season prior's, results get to go, then that still wouldn't make sense for HB, as they haven't been in the top 4 at all UNTIL this season, where they are 2nd place behind Auckland. Looking at the previous teams that have gone to the CL, they all were either table winners or runners up during that season.

This season: https://gyazo.com/9fd248dbf4e82c62f03d4742be2a84fe
Last season: https://gyazo.com/75f7245952819343d3755cda58b144ab

Could it be that the continental qualifications have been misplaced so that it only selects the top 2 teams on the table at the time of the CL draw? If so, how did that even happen?

@claassen Hmmm, then something must be wrong in the database. I remember you made the NZ leagues able to have promotion/relegation before, circa FM15, but this year's, I've found you can't get into or get out of the top flight

@claassen When you say "New Zealand regional leagues fixed", does that mean you removed promotion/relegation from them?

Yeah, that program is Football Manager.

So you put the tactic within the Tactics folder in your Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2018 section, and then within Football Manager you go to your tactic screen and load in the tactic.

Any ideas when the English lower leagues will be added? Can't wait to take Hyde United to the champions league.

Might be one of the longest ones to work on, thus won't be out soon.

Can't wait for you to get the Oceania leagues (and maybe some more African leagues) loaded in so that I can try for the Hexagon again!

"In FM, the GA players will sometimes not turn out to be any good."

See, I always thought GA players were the best in class of the draft, and always tended to draft them when I can.

At the same time, I tend to stay away from building my squad through the draft, often trading picks away from players, international slots, or GAM for high wage players.

I'm currently playing "The Ultimate" Challenge on the Sports Interactive forum, but this one intrigues me!!

If I start, just to clarify, does winning promotion, say from League 2, count as the trophy??

Cheers

Because the challenge is hard as it is, the creators added the allowance of promotion in lieu of winning the title to count towards your trophy count. Makes it slightly easier.

Come on @Cymro, sort it out

League Cup and Scottish Cup are there, my mistake, but the other trophies still need a ruling on. Need to know if, like the old Setanta Cup before it, that trophy just needs to be won in one nation or all three.

Seems to be some cups missing on that list, ie. Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup. Rename Johnstone's Trophy to EFL Trophy. And would we allow either a Welsh or Northern Irish team winning the Scottish Challenge Cup count as knocking that off the list entirely? Or will that need to be won 3 different times to fully count?

If you wish to go after the Faroe Islands and Greenland as well, yeah those could be for bonus points and such, since those will probably be the most difficult to do anything in.

What's going on guys, it's Gendo here, and I've got an idea for a different challenge to take for the next iteration for Football Manager. Admittedly it's not a new challenge by design, but it's new in a way that we'll be exploring a region not many football managers go to manage in this game:

Scandinavia

A magical place filled with short days, cold nights, colorful lights, and Santa Claus (well, a football club at least).

And what's the premise you ask? Win every trophy within the five recognized nations in the extended definition of the region: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, and Finland.

https://i.gyazo.com/e9b13a7f5ac86c817fcb3e0a1110309f.png

If my maths are correct, that's 23 cups/league titles to win, significantly shorter than the British Steel Challenge's number, but I feel no less difficult in achieving. And for good reason, too, since you'll be following the same rules as with the British Steel Challenge:
  • No prior footballing experience and no coaching badges to start.
  • Starting either unemployed or with a team of your choosing
  • You must only use Norwegians, Swedes, Danes, Icelanders, and Finns in your first team. Meaning....
  • A complete restriction on non-Scandinavian players in the matchday squad. ie. They cannot be played in first team matches.
  • Addendum: you can loan the non-Scandinavian players out or send them to the reserves if you cannot sell them outright. They just cannot be in the matchday squad
Much like with the British Steel's rules on winning trophies, I will permit the counting of non-league champion promotions (aka playoff promotions) as winning the league title to help further your progress along.

Please let me know what you think of this, as in theory it sounds like a decent challenge to undertake. The question is, would you be able to best it?

No badges to start. You can get them progressing through the challenge.

can you sign foreign players, and never use them and just put them on loan, for a few years then sell to make a bit of cash?

Now, this is something I've never really thought of. I only looked at it from the perspective that you can only play British/Irish players, therefore only sign those players. Seeing what you're talking about (signing and loaning out with the intention of resale), I guess as long as you don't play them in your first team, then I don't see why you can't do that.

Good luck in Northern Ireland, mate. It's unfortunately a veritable black hole for football, but if you can find momentum with Portstewart, it could lead you to not just a couple trophies, but possibly a better job within the nation too!

Dan and Shed, you know I always encourage people to go after challenges, and ever since I completed this almost 3 years ago now? I've been wanting to see someone else give it a good long go. I'm glad to see that you are coming together as a team to go after this, and catching up on your reading, you've made some great progress so far! It seems that everyone pursing this challenge starts in Berwick.

Also, I couldn't help but think you we're going all Harlem Heat in the title, Danny Ray and Shedender T, and it seems very fitting to use this picture:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/kRaY5Zb0eh21Z2lZ82FmvhDPUsPfqRcY602DcCZa.jpg

Let it be known that on my personal Twitch (twitch.tv/rlkdragon), I've also taken up the mantle of re-doing the British Steel in live stream format. Since FM13 and FM16, there's been some trophies added and removed, and I felt I wanted to give it a go again. I started it back in January, and I also have 8 trophies to my name. If you want to check it out, don't hesitate to follow, I stream on weekend nights.

And finally: Good luck, boys! We all need it for this one!

I'm still trying to find a DB that does the Italian Serie D playoffs correctly. So far, all I've seen are ones that just have the Serie D group winners advancing, and completely omitting the fact there is a playoff to determine other entries up into Lega Pro.

what are the rules regarding taking over a club with some non brittish players/ like i holidayed til todays date in game and took over a team in scotland however they have like 2 players that arnt brittish do i need to get rid of those straight away or just not sign anyone un brittish?

Correct. As an example, when I took on the challenge back in 2013, I took over an Arsenal squad several years in that 18 non-British Isle players. Sold them all and made £200M+, and turned it around onto fellow Premier League teams, strictly looking at British Isle players.

Well, it kinda ruins the intent of the challenge if you had non-British Isle players.
