I'm managing Roma and I've definitely seen some of these against other high-level clubs like Man United and Porto.

But by your response, it sounds like other people aren't having these problems and maybe I've just had a bit of bad luck.

I'm only 1 competitive match into my season (plus several friendlies) but so far I've seen a whole lot of what I'd call "slop" goals where a ball will take a weird deflection (usually from a defender punting a clearance off someone standing right in front of him) leading to an immediate goal or a very easy goal-scoring opportunity. I'm seeing these at a rate of about 1 goal every other match.

Are others seeing a high rate of these sorts of goals, or is this just a flukey outcome from a small sample size?

Is there anything different that has to be done to load graphics this year? I've never had trouble with any of the graphics packs for the many years I've been using them, but this year I'm getting nothing at all. No faces, no kits, no logos. Seems like I must be missing some key detail.

Sometimes the opposite happens, though. I was angry about dropping out of the 2016 league title race with Liverpool due to a bunch of bad results against lower-table teams, and then I somehow smashed Bayern in the Champions League final 5-0.

Sometimes you get unlucky, other times things go your way.

Star ratings are relative to the quality of your team. So a player's rating drops it doesn't necessarily mean his ability dropped (although it might if he is an older player) just that it dropped in comparison to the overall quality of your squad.

I use the same formation most of the time with Liverpool.

I usually use one B2B midfielder and one CM/D. If your more defensive midfielder is a good passer/playmaker you could make him a DLP instead of a CM. Also if you don't have anyone versatile enough to be a B2B you could switch that to a BWM/S or CM/S or even a CM/A if you want to be extremely attacking.

Doesn't look like you're playing with an excessively attacking style, although the 4-2-3-1 with CMs is inherently a little bit attack-minded.

Is it possible your fullbacks simply aren't that good defensively? Maybe the "look for overlap" instruction is making them make more attacking runs so they're getting caught out more frequently than you'd expect for a FB with support duty.

I have to say I don't really understand all the outrage. I have some issues with player interaction (mostly players too easy to get angry about playing time) but the core of the game (the ME) is the best I've ever seen.

Some clubs have a special kit for European play. The kitpack doesn't have it so it just displays a generic kit for those matches.

I had this problem too. You are basically forced to change the staff responsibilities if you want your assignment to be started.

For some reason the problem doesn't extend to individual player scouting, though.

They've said on the SI forums that they're working on it. Not much choice but to be patient.

I had my chief scout handling scouting assignments and I thought it was working fine, but then I created a couple of new assignments (find me a first team striker, etc.) and I noticed they're never getting handled. They just sit there with a "preparing" status and never go through. I can't even remove them because it says my chief scout handles scouting assignments.

Is scouting an all or nothing thing? Either I set all the assignments or I have no control at all and the assignments I create don't get done?

Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? I play as Dortmund and while I see plenty of 1-0, 2-0 type matches in standard Bundesliga play, in big matches against other high reputation clubs I get massive goalfests. In my 2 matches against Bayern so far in the season there have been 13 goals. In my 6 Champions League group stage matches there were 30 goals including 13 in my 2 matches against Real Madrid.

Have others noticed this?

Theoretically with the new rules I think you could qualify for the CL by winning the EL.

Anyone else have this problem. I'm playing as Dortmund and have downloaded the SS and 3D Bundesliga kitpacks in the downloads section here. In league matches they work fine but in European play I get a generic yellow kit, both the 2D picture and in the 3D match engine. Anyone have any clue what the matter is?

I'm doing significantly better than the real-life Dortmund is doing, and I assume that will be the case for most players managing Dortmund as they are underperforming badly IRL.

I'm guessing the same will be true for folks managing Man United or Liverpool or Spurs.

I put the slider 1 notch away from the rightmost setting, which is sufficient to allow you to max out all the important mental attributes while still allowing you to be a 4-star coach in at least 1 category.

The game always allowed you to choose your background (sunday league, international, etc) and assigned you hidden mental attributes based on that. This is just allowing you to customize them further. In a sense it's a way of adding difficulty levels and addressing the complaints that motivation was too opaque and unpredictable.

As always a good J-League database would be appreciated, although I kind of fear fan-made DBs now since the 2 previous J-League downloads I've used had really annoying issues that I didn't notice until I was a year or so into a career.

Bought FM15 yesterday and played for about 90 minutes. I'm enjoying it so far although the new team selection/tactics screen is a huge, inexplicable step backwards.

Just bought FM15 yesterday after downloading this fix and all the facepack updates I've missed over the last year or so. Tremendous job, guys. Keep up the good work.

Someone from SI on their boards said setting a couple of players to mark the 6-yard box is a good way to shore things up.

Maybe play with increased highlights so you see more of the games?

Was going to buy FM15 in the next few days but I'm worried by persistent complaints on the SI boards about overpowered crossing leading to high scorelines. Should I wait for a patch?

So give me a bottom line here people, is FM15 quality? Normally buying FM is a no brainer for me (at least since I got into it 4 years ago) but this year's version has gotten an alarming number of mediocre reviews. Also the UI changes look iffy to me, especially the tactics screen. On the other hand, if the ME is solid and there aren't glaring issues with stuff like player interaction and negotiations, I'm sure I'll still enjoy it.

Trying to decide whether to pick up FM15, and just wondering if one of my gripes from FM14 has been addressed. In FM14 the role/duty suitability recommendations seemed completely untrustworthy. Inordinately large amounts of CWBs, AFs, DLPs, and B2Bs in the "best roles" column. Has any improvement been made in this regard?

I would also love it if less emphasis were put on motivation/blend/familiarity factors, but I suspect that's about the same as it was in FM14.

This list is really promising though as the transfer prices seem quite realistic. I think £28m for Cuadrado and £22m for Vertonghen seem about right. £17m for Khedira might be a little low but not unreasonably so.

This is one of the reasons I disable transfer budgets in the first window. Game is less deterministic that way.

The only problem is that now that agent fees and signing bonuses are taken out of the transfer budget, it also prevents you from setting up free transfers until the board gives you your winter transfer budget.
