I found it on the Sports Interactive Forum and it is a 'Fix' for people experiencing 'Slowdown Issues'.
It takes away some of the delay that is encountered when switching screens, i.e searching for players or looking through squads etc.
The 'Interface Rendering Mode' is set to 'GPU Assisted' from default and this changes it to 'software'. I'd love to be able to tell you what that all means but I honestly don't know. I have been running the game with this change for about half a season and haven't experienced any problems.

Preferences > Interface > Interface Rendering Mode > Software
This should enable your game to run a bit faster than it was before.
