Will probably add a version for FM24 soon. I expect they'll deal with the overspending in the first patch or so, probably not worth trying to fix that ourselves until they deal with it

 

I managed to load the 23 version into the 24 Db and verify… seems to be working ok so far… Or am is my save game destined to fail?

 

Are you going to add this for FM24 any time soon?

Do yourself a favour and don't place your user data folder within the Steam path, it can cause a multitude of issues.

 

I've had it like that for years… what issues does it cause? I keep it in my “Common” folder, so I can point older versions of FM to it without changing the “launch options”. (and to keep it tidy).

Literally just found a similar article and have tried and tested it. It works. Thank you.

I've just had to rebuild my laptop and have tried setting the Launch options to --user_data_location="C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FMUserData"

But when I load up FM, it hasn't applied... logos aren't working, facepacks are't applying and when I try switching skins, only the default one is there.

I've checked the path is correct, the folder it's pointing to has everything there that it should... but every time I run FM, it must revert to the default setting of Documents\Sports Interactive...

 

Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi, I'm hoping I can post this here...

I'm trying to adjust the test size of the players in the main squad view... the default zoom in level of 85% is not quite enough... 50/55% is way too much... so I want something like 80%.

How do I change it? I'm assuming I'd need a custom skin, which is fine... I'm currently using TCS at the moment and have seen a few .xml files with font and test size in, so i'm hoping there's something in there??

Could someone point me in the right direction please?

So, I've been playing FM for as long as I can remember now... and I've never struggled to score goals as much as this game (FM20).

I play around with my tactics every now and again and give them several games for the players to get used to them. I create a lot of chances and have lots of posession. Defensively, I'm doing pretty well but I've just realised I've only scored 12 goals in 14 games in the league. I've only conceded 6, so I'm doing ok in the league (5th/6th).

I'm playing as West Ham in 2032 and have a team of regens. My strikers have very good stats, (finishing and composure minimum 15).

I play a 4-2-3-1 formation with a complete forward/advanced forward, two inside forwards, a attacking playmaker and to CMs set to deep lying playmakers.

My tactics are attacking and have wing backs also set auto as well. But my players just can't score...


Is it the math engine? I started this game several months ago and wonder if the latest patches have applied to it?

Or is there something else?

I've tried setting more training schedules to finishing (Chance conversion/creating) but still doesn't make a difference.

I even had a striker that won the golden boot a few seasons in a row, but even then he only managed 20 or so and went many games without scoring at times.

My new £120m striker went around 15 games without scoring as well. lods of one on ones created (and I know that was a major issue in early releases). but I'd like to think that has been fixed now... Are the major patches not save game compatible!?


Any advice would be great. As I said, I'm creating chances, but just not taking them.

No probs, I thought that'd be the case! Shame the main game patches doesn't sort it out as it's a big thing.

I assume IGE is In-Game Editor?

I ahve FMRTE and it doesn't look like you can do it with that either.

I've also checked all the EDT and INC files etc, can't see anything there either.

It's not a massive issue, but it is annoying!

Is there a way of changing the transfer deadline day for an existing save? I know you can change it in the editor for new games, but I'm 8 seasons in and I really don't want to start again...

Update... it's working!!

I did a verify files etc last and double checked all folders etc... it took a while, but the national team for germany is now full of real players.

I've tried validating all files, then re doing the Real name fix... I have no Fake.lnc files in my FM folder...

But still no German national team (not real players anyway) - Some regens hgave started to get called up, but that's because I'm 6 seasons in....

It's a little annoying though.

Any other ideas?

Both I think... I would have put the real name fix in when first installing the game.

Since some updates have installed I think they re-instate the fake file... but deleting the fake file was always save game compatible wasn't it?

Subject says it all... I have deleted the fake files from all folders (2000, 2001, 2010, 2030 and 2040\Inc\All)...


and yet, in two of my games,the German national team does not have real players.

Any ideas?

Every time I play a match on FM19, both teams play in white... I'd recently deleted a 3d kits folder, but I don't remember where from... any idea how to fix this?

I agree... I never understood why transfers weren't done on the dates they were transferred on... It's annoying and lazy... If you're going to do something - do it properly...

I play a 4-1-2-3 (Like a Barcelona formation), or 4-2-3-1... I refuse to play 4-4-2.

I've also revamped the entire backroom staff and have the best coaches in the league according the the staffing levels.

I've bought in Gabriel Barbosa, Lucas Romero, Mario Fernandes to name a few... mostly young players. Which could be an issue, as they may not quite be at a level that I need.

I'm quite strict in my team talks - If they are playing badly, I let them know. I don't believe playing away from home is an excuse to a; play badly, or b; change your tactics...

This has worked for me in all other versions of the game.

So... I've been an FM player for as long as I can remember... I've never really really struggled to get into a game and start winning things. I usually struggle for a bit until I get my tactic right when the new FM comes out each year. But once I have it sorted, I'm set and can usually get into a game and go from strength to strength.

However... this year, I have had five attempts at being West Ham, and have been sacked all five times... Usually in my second season. I was hovering around mid table most of the season and had a good (ish) young squad that would only get better... They constantly play badly and I just don't seem to get any luck..

Is it me, my tactics, my strict expectations? Or is it a West Ham thing? Are the board too ambitious? I've been expected to qualify for the Europa in both seasons. But I always seem to struggle in my second season... I do like to reshape the entire club from top to bottom, by getting all new coaches, new assistant, scouts, physios... all staff.
I've bought quite a few new players as well. but my first team has about 7 original players most the time...

I may be trying to change too much too soon. I may need to vary my tactics more from game to game. But I've never had to do that before, and I don't think I should have to. If I have a tactic that works - I shouldn't have to change it from game to game... but maybe that's my problem...

Has anyone else managed to be successful with West Ham?

Hmmm... Not sure I can wait that long... Although it does sound familiar with previous games.

Any idea when to expect the next official patch & transfer update? I'm holding out on starting a new game until it's released, but not sure how much longer I can wait..

Mine works, in compatibility mode, but when I go to a game, it crashes out... maybe a graphics issue, because if i run it with dedicated graphics, the game doesn't even open.

crap - too late, forgot I'd uninstalled it, and am currently re-installing.

Yeah, it is only the preview release.... not sure if you can run it in compatibility mode, as it runs via steam... although... I shall try it direct from the .exe rather that the shortcut...

Has anyone upgraded to Windows 8.1 yet??

If so - does FM work for you? I did it at the weekend, and... well... long story short... FM13 doesn't work anymore!

You could just add a new manager and take control of the france team, and remove him yourself?? then retire as that manager.

Might take time for something like that to happen... Maybe making the reputation of the Welsh towns/cities higher, as they may have no attraction to some players. The national team reputation, may also help... as well as clubs being in Europe... Just a thought.

With the latest patch, I assumed they would fix the match engine, and yet time and time again, my players seem not to react as a any Sunday league footballer would know to do when the ball is coming towards you. Why is it so bad this year. I didn't think there was much wrong with the last one, so why the big change, and why is it so shit. I've always been good at creating tactics, so I don't care what anyone says, I do not believe my tactics are to blame.

Why a player decides to pick up the ball in his own half, and dribbles towards the corner of his own end, with the opposition chasing, why he then decides to pass it straight across the face his own goal into the path of an opposing striker is beyond me!

There is no where in my tactics that says panic, run the opposite way and then pass to the other team...


Also, I find my strikers will have 10 - 20 shots, and only 3-5 of them will be anyway near the goal. I wouldn't mind so much if they hit the post,just missed, had the shot saved, but these are getting close to the corner flag.

Something is serious;y wrong. I'm pretty sure it's only my deeply embedded addiction of the game that is keeping me playing - the thought that maybe, it is me, or my tactics, or the morale of the team that is making them play so badly, one day I may just turn that corner, and start playing well, winning and passing around properly! But no.....

There's now three major patches out, and it's worse than ever for me. Before 13.3, i could manage ok, with the odd strange defensive decision, but I'd at least be able to score a few goals.

Will there be another patch to fix the match engine? Or is it literally just me that is struggling like this??

I refuse to download other peoples tactics, as I deem that cheating... I have tweaked mine, here and there, and given plenty of time for the players to get used to them... But still no change.

I'm looking for a January transfer update that has all January dealings set as future transfers, (except Loans I guess...)

Any idea if there is such a thing? Or when the official one is due to be released?

I'd say it'd run fine... Wouldn't be lightning quick, but not slow either. What graphics do you have? That will determine whether or not you can run the 3D graphics...
