Fantastic
If the referee believed it was a foul he wouldn't have given Torres a yellow card. You mark the first offence, which would have been a free kick for Chelsea. Whether you like it or not, there was contact, which was a foul. The referee made the wrong decision. It's black and white.

I'd love to see a referee both give a foul and book a player for milking it. Not going to happen, but it'd be refreshing.
jumberto
At least he was consistent. He booked Valencia for the same thing when Mikel fouled him.
.verse
Minimal contact and Young throws himself to the ground. The difference is that this decision went in the way of the attacker and Bane got a straight red.
It happens most weeks.
BR.
Exactly. End of story. Therefore never ever a red card.
jumberto
But everyone's taking this decision and the goal in isolation and making out Clattenburg is corrupt. He got loads of decisions wrong, he had a bad game in a difficult atmosphere. Even without Torres' redcard Chelsea could still have had 3 players sent off and we could've had two penalties.

So why was there such a fuss about Young diving last season when he was fouled in every instance where he went down?
Torres dived, I don't think any one can have any query with that assertion, in diving he made the referee make a decision. He might have got that wrong, but that's nothing to have sympathy with Torres for, because his diving forced that decision.
I don't think 'there was contact' is a sufficient excuse when, in this case, that contact wasn't enough to send him down.

I think the offside is near-impossible for the linesman to actually see it properly, so much movement..
Also what happened to Robinson/Flanagan/Danny Wilson?

Just looks like he's going to put his foot down, doesn't look like an unnatural movement

The step he takes on to Distin's back leg is about twice as long as the three before it though.
Idk, I would give him the benefit of the doubt, but he does stuff like this fairly frequently.

Fair enough. That's probably why there's pressure now that I think of it, although given the absolute farce Redknapp relegated and then abandoned in 2005, I'd be amazed if he did wind up in the St. Mary's managerial chair.
King Luis
If he was just running straight then fair enough but he's running across so his stride is just normal, it looks worse from the first angle but the second angle just looks normal. Can understand why people might think it was deliberate but at the same time he's not always a petulant little shit

Clattenburg was shite as well, and has certainly given a pretty good game a really poisonous after-taste.

Straws are certainly being clutched at here
Abbott
The first one is pretty bad but I don't think its intentional. His body language mid-stamp looks like its genuinely a mistake. Was he booked for it? If he was then that seems fair to me.
King Luis
He was yeah but people are suggesting he should have got a red.

I wonder when the TV rights bubble will burst, if it ever does.

When less people want to watch football, I guess.

Has he simulated and gone down a bit dramatically? Definitely. Was he fouled? Definitely.

For me personally:
Yes Chelsea were very unlucky. imo Ivanovic was a red IMO, even though there wasnt loads of contact. Torres one was very harsh but equally could have been sent off for his earlier tackle anyway, and yes obviously Hernandez' goal was offside, but theres always a few offside goals every week, im sure ill be complaining about one against us soon enough. Clattenburg was pretty awful all game.
As far as Liverpool/Suarez, they were unlucky to get the last goal disallowed, but again plenty of those decisions every week, those stamps really dont look intentional at all, just doesnt seem to be paying much attention to where he is running thats all. (and believe me i fucking hate Liverpool and Suarez)
Also d'you reckon FA will do anything about his celebration? Im not saying I would but it was deliberately antagonistic of him and you know what the FA are like, much like Neville with the Liverpool fans a few years ago
