Or rather, he was angry that wages were being spent on players who clearly weren't worth it and were using QPR as a glorified retirement home.

I really see nothing wrong with QPR's transfer policy under Redknapp, it's not enlightened, but he's signing mostly Premier League proven players who have experience of the scrap.

It's worth far more for them to stay up and have these players than go down.

BBC Sport's chief football writer Phil McNulty: "Everton will continue talks with Sevilla this morning about a deal for Spain striker Alvaro Negredo.

"David Moyes switched his attention to Negredo after an £8.6m deal for FC Twente midfield man Leroy Fer collapsed. It is a bold move by Everton - Sevilla rate Negredo at around £13m but their current financial state may force them to accept less.

"Despite a taciturn response to questions about possible transfer business after last night's win against West Brom, Moyes is also chasing another as yet unnamed Spanish target."
