Just a heads-up.

As some of you will know, I frequently cut the older pending individual requests to try and ensure the request list is kept to manageable levels. Over the past couple of weeks, I was not in a position to do so as regularly as I'd like and this'll possibly also be the case in the foreseeable future after the holiday period due to personal circumstances. This has seen the backlog of requests increase considerably, to my disappointment.

If half a dozen cutters would cut 2-3 requests a day, that'd be around 100 requests dealt with in a week, which would do wonders to the backlog. With remove.bg and the quality of our cutters, I would reckon it probably wouldn't take much more than 5 minutes daily. I know cutters often take packs on which produce probably more cuts than that amount, and I certainly can't complain about the recent output of cuts which has been as large as it's ever been since I've been involved in here a decade or so ago, and this isn't something I expect people to do, but it'd be something I'd very much like to see an uptick in

Furthermore, in order to have a more focused approach, I'm considering an approach whereas I won't be cutting any requests made by a regular cutter. That doesn't mean that cutters can't or shouldn't also be requesters, which would be a ridiculous idea (and hypocritical of me, as I request sources from time to time!), but I think it'd be a better use of my time to help somebody who can't do it themselves The reason I'm saying it is that I don't want anybody to feel excluded or discriminated against...

Have anyone make a referee pack?

I've moved your post to here. This site has the functionality to search threads - this is what comes up in the facepacks thread for "referee": https://sortitoutsi.net/search/content-comments/363?q=referee

Keep in mind that there's no way of sorting people in the megapack other than by UID, which means that the only way to collect such a pack is to do it find the UIDs of the people you want and download them manually from the site...

Another general post. As from now on, I'll be adopting a harsher approach to insults and abuse. I'm sick of me and my fellow admins getting unwarranted abuse. If you lack manners or are otherwise frustrated, please don't take it out on us unless you want your account to be banned.

I have infinite patience for users of good will who genuinely look for guidance and I don't have any problem with criticism, but I draw the line at abuse. We all do this for free, using our free time to give back to the community and this certainly doesn't warrant abuse being doled out for whatever reason.

Does anyone know how to add cut-outs to created journalists through the editor?

I have created several journalists which are visible during press conferences on my save, and I have added cut-outs for them and included them in the config file in the mega-pack but they don't show up in the save when clearing cache and reloading the skin? Do they have to be placed elsewhere in the graphics file when they have an auto assigned ID?

How did you find their UID?

Hi @mons

regarding https://www.remove.bg/

Have you tried downloading the windows tool or the exenteration for photoshop that are available in the "tools and API" section on the site. I'm using an older version of Photoshop so I can't use the extension, but the windows tool is great and it lets you do multiple images at the time. All you have to do is to set up an free account and then you have to use the "API key" that you can find in "my account".

I tried downloading the PS extension a long time ago but I didn't manage to do it and gave up. I'll give it another go when I'm back home.

I didn't know about the Windows tool. Looks right up my street as I usually cut in bulk Thanks a lot for the heads-up

In the data editor when I created them.

The UID of created people is rarely the same in-game as it is in the editor, especially if you are running other editor data files at the same time. I don't know of any method you can find journalists' UIDs, unfortunately.

Photoshop Extension

If you have a free account and is logged in it should be pretty easy

p.s. when logged in it also gives you 50 free high quality download (previews) a month

Yeah, not to many free downloads per month...as I cut 50 images in 15 minutes, probably. I tried Adobe extension/Windows tool, but I was limited and because I dont want to pay, I still use online web version.

If you do it online, you get an unlimited amount. The 50 download limit is only for the high-quality full-size images. If you crop larger sources to only have the area around the face, you can put however many sources you want through it. For example, this weekend I must have cut around 150 cuts using it. You just have to download them manually though...

Hi!
A question...where exactly i should see the small icon faces from the packs ? Are they displayed on the FM base skin or do i need to use another skin to see the small faces ?
Thank you!

When you right-click on a player, you should see the icon next to his name in the topmost row.

So that is the use for those small icons ? That is the only place where they could be seen ?

Calling all cutters AND requesters:

With the use of remove.bg being so common now, would YOU agree with a proposal to ask requesters to also include a remove.bg cut-out for each request made? The intention is two-fold: (a) if cutters are going to use the tool anyway, it will speed things up just a little bit and (b) it may encourage some of the more frequent requesters to dip their toes into actually cutting sources.

I think this may make cutters' lives a little bit easier while adding only a small amount of extra work for requesters.

What do you reckon?

This could be a favourable addition to our rules. I usually prefer working with the original image, as I find I can save more details compared to the remove.bg final image, but if both the original and the remove.bg edited images will be included in the requests, it could be a great way to encourage more people (and the requesters themselves) to start cutting those easy sources.
So, I totally agree with this idea.

In this way, cutters who prefer to use the original source would still be able to do so, while people like me who don't mind using remove.bg would save a little bit of time. I collect and cut in bulk, for example, and saving 20 or so images, cropping them, putting them through remove.bg and saving them on my PC can easily take me 5-10 minutes. This way, I can use those 5-10 minutes to better use

My concerns would be

1. Some people won't crop the image before using removebg resulting in a tiny headshot on the removebg version..

2. removebg doesn't always produce great results IMHO and I can see the vast majority of these requests being completed (by newbies or bad/lazy cutters) using the removebg version before the more skilled cutters have even seen the request.

3. I doubt that the majority of requesters will take the time to post both versions of the pic. Many requesters can't be bothered to find a decent source pic in the first place so I think you are being optimistic in thinking they will spend time making a second version of the pic.

Anyway just my thoughts on the matter.

You've essentially summarised the main drawbacks for me tbh.

One small thing I'll allow myself to disagree with. Bar a small handful of "repeat offenders", whose numbers may appear greater than they actually are simply because of their prominence, the absolute majority of our regular cutters know the drill by now. I remember speaking to a fair bit of them at the start to guide them towards what we're aiming for in these forums, and I think by now only a small number of the newer members need hand-holding. I reckon a fair share would consider posting the second image if they got their requests done quicker, but I appreciate that it may be somewhat hard to moderate this

You don't know who Alan Shearer is? Kids these days!

Joking apart, that was the UID for him in 20.0 iirc, but it's not the same in 20.4 I'll remove it from 12.08

I know that UID look like one for an edited player, but that kind of UID is also for some people who are set in the database as retired persons (no longer active as staff) and who can appear either in older award histories or as media comparison for talent youngsters (the new Alan Shearer).

Of course I know who Alan Shearer is. Just couldn't recognize him with just a headshot and a random number. It might have been easier if the picture had looked like this...(as I remember him at his best)

If you didn't installed Vertus yet,do it and while installing it will ask you where you want to place plugin, check the first one, scroll to the bottom and check "Other:64 bit".Then it will ask you to find the Photoshop plugins directory (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2020\Plug-ins).
If you already have it installed and Vertus is not showing in Filters menu, download this and unpack the folder (not it's contents) to the above mentioned directory.
