This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2020 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.
You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.
For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

Then try it the other way round. Delete the whole dbc/permanent folder and see if the game loads up without it.

Can´t delete, erease or replace any files in the FM folder.
Given my profile admin rights in secure tab and it still won´t work, only see access denied when trying to delete the files.
mons
I can't seem to find their UID in the editor. Can you find it in your game?
mons
There have been reports that Microsoft have completed removed the possibility to change files in the Gamepass folder, but at the same time some users have said that they've managed to get the whole fix to work, so I don't really know what to say at this stage
Draiden
Thanks for your reply.
It´s disgusting. In general I want absolute control for my files and it is crazy that MS locked the files.
You told about a fix, what do you mean with fix? Fixing the Delete problem or this Licensing Fix?
mons
I meant that some users have said they have gotten this licensing fix to work. If there is a workaround/fix to the issue with files in the Gamepass folders reappearing after being deleted, then I'd like to hear about it so that I can explain it for those who would like to use this licensing fix fully in FM20 Gamepass.
RoCCo_42
I think this. But everything is fine at LNC files. I don't understand why seeing interesting in the game
mons
Do you have any other user data files installed which may have created those sub-divisions perchance?
As it stands, I can't edit something which isn't there

It seems at some point during the process of starting a game the game creates soem folders and files amongst the lnc, edt and dbc files that overule what is in these files.
Deleting files doesn't seem to be an issue for me. I have access and can delete and edit the files. It just seems that the game creates new files when starting a new game that interfere with what these files are doing.

Which club is it? Editor data file changes cannot be overwritten by lnc files, so if you had the editor data file in place when you started your save game, and the club name was changed in there, then what you want to do is not possible.
Tiago Mota Da Cruz
It’s Bayern Munich.. and I followed every step on installing this? So next time if I wanna be able to change names in saved games I do not need to copy the files to editor data folder is that what you’re saying ? Thank you
mons
That's entirely up to you. There are thousands of club name changes in this file which you'll lose out on if you don't copy the 2 club name changes editor data files.
Tiago Mota Da Cruz
I still don't understand.. how can i use inc to change club names when already started game and saved games ? i thought all you had to do was remove hash?
mons
The main purpose of that workaround is for people who did NOT have the editor data file in place when they started the new game. Using that method, they would get the club name changes in their save game.
If you had the club name changes editor data files in place when you started your save game, and the club name was changed in there, then it is simply not possible to change that club's name again due to the way editor data files and lnc files work.

As you've seen in the previous posts, the community doesn't seem to have solved the Gamepass issue yet, I'm afraid...

Okay got it now thanks
alongpilgrims
same problem here...not sure if it's just this but I noticed the gamepass version is stucked on the 20.4.0 version, the fix is for the 20.4.1update ... maybe it'd work if the fix was for the same version
mons
The files used for 20.4.1 are almost identical to the ones used for 20.4, so I'm fairly confident that's not the issue.
CyroManager

I now see that the game is re making the files i deleted when i run the game... any way to stop it?
mons
As outlined earlier in this thread, there seems to be no way around this, probably due to restrictions by Microsoft...
CyroManager
OK SO I MANAGED TO FIX IT... Anyone who is able to get all the league names and stuff correct but not the team names for GAMEPASS, this is what i did
1. I installed this fix how it is supposed to
2. DONT open the game yet
3. I went and installed this also https://www.fmscout.com/a-fm20-real-names-license-fix.html and followed the steps in adding and deleting certain folders
4. Go into the game and all the teams should be the correct name
I think this has to do more with manually deleting the folders as per the instructions on the fmscout website rather than downloading 2 fixes... but I don't know, just glad it worked for me. Thanks!
