This was the reason why I decided to turn down the job offer at Southend and stay manager of Gateshead. We travelled to the biggest side in the league and who are currently top of the league and absolutely battered them. The players put on a brilliant performance and hopefully we can push on from here now and not let me regret my decision.

How does that happen? We travel to top of the league and win 3-0... We travel to bottom of the league and lost 3-0.

Easy win against BSN side Telford eases us through to the second round. Wouldn't mind a good run in this competition, trip to Wembley would be nice.

Second consecutive defeat in the league- need to improve.

Failed to make it to the third round of the FA Cup after defeat away at League One side Swindon. They somehow have managed to snap up Charlie Adam on a free and he was way too good for us.

A draw away at fellow play off contenders Stalybridge. We are currently five points off the play offs in 11th- mid table again...

Comprehensive win against bottom side Accrington. They are in deep trouble and look like they're going to be relegated if they don't have a massive improvement in the second half of the season. We battered them and deserved the win- good to stop the run of bad form.

Easy win against a side who aren't even in a division. Played a second string side and we probably should of won by more- we've got Chester in the next round.

Inconsistency is what is going to be the downfall of our season. Against the big sides, we always seem to do well- we just fuck up against the lower ones. Bradford Park Avenue are currently in the relegation zone and they beat us and should of probably beat us by more. Not impressed.

James Norwood was our hero, scoring twice to grab us a good away win against Lincoln. Nice revenge as they beat us 3-0 earlier on in the season.

Good result away at Chester- Andrew Owens heading in from a corner to grab us a point. As you can see, we currently sit in 9th position with 16 games remaining. I'm still confident that we can get into the play offs places this season however we need to cut out our silly mistakes and losing to the sides round near the bottom. It's January now and I don't plan on making any changes to my squad. However, anybody who has been reading this from the start knows that probably won't happen

Jamille Matt was given a rare start against Newport and grabbed the only goal of the game. Clean sheet as well which is a bonus.

Knocked out of the FA Trophy against high flying Chester. Gutted to get knocked out but happy to see Liam Walker bagging a brace, he's been brilliant since his Summer move from AFC Wimbledon.

Shaun Whalley has had his contract paid off after he was moaning about not getting a game. He was signed in the Summer but only managed to make three appearances so good to get him off the payroll.

Good win against strugglers Grimsby. Made 7 sevens from the side that lost to Woking and the players that came in really did me proud.

Well earned draw against fellow play off chaser Altrincham. Our former striker Louis Swain put Alty ahead before Harry Crawford grabbed the equaliser after coming off the bench.

Two points off play offs thanks to Andres Gurrieri's late strike. Hopefully we can now gain momentum and push on for the play offs.

Should of won this game. Crawford scored a wondergoal after coming off the bench at half time, before Kiddy equalised near the hour mark. Crawford hit the post with a header with the last kick of the game.

With eight games remaining, we have now moved into the last play off position after a great win against fellow contenders Eastleigh. Crawford kept up his great goalscoring form and Liam Walker grabbed a brace from attacking midfield.

So fucking inconsistent. We lost to 18th placed Bromley and have consequently dropped out of the play off positions. Also, Bradley Wood was sent off in the first half, meaning Liam Walker was substituted to bring on a defender- this happened...
Just what I need with 7 matches to go. My most influential player is throwing a hissy fit, better not hinder our play off fight.

Badboy Liam Walker came off the bench to bag a deserved equaliser after a turbulent week for him. With six matches to go, we are two points off the play offs. I'll be fuming if we don't make the play offs as our inconsistency has really been our downfall. Come on Gateshead!

Fantastic win away against a good Dartford side. Harry Crawford used to play for Dartford and was our hero, coming back to the club and scoring a superb hat trick. Still two points off the play offs. However, some bad news- Liam Walker can't seem to keep himself out of the headlines at the moment and he's been ruled out for pretty much the rest of the season.

Brilliant win against top of the table Wrexham. Harry Crawford was again the hero and it seems like great timing for us to come into form. Four games to go and we are one point inside the play offs.
