Postscript. It will be a cut of the players of the Japan Soccer League (J League).

Facepacks work because each player in the official database has a Unique ID, and that UID is fixed. So Messi will have 7458500 as his UID in my save game, your save game and the save game of anybody in the world.

Players added in editor data files work a bit differently. Their UID in a save game is variable and depends on the files which the user has downloaded, and even their order. This means that it is impossible to have facepacks for created players unless the editor data file in which they are created is the only one being used, because there is no way of guaranteeing that the images will display for the right person otherwise. This appears to be the case here.

Download the program from this site, whichever of the two applies to you.

Adding images to the megapack
N.B. Any teampacks and individual images are included in each update pack; this is for the impatient who want cuts to be included in their MP folder before then.

1. Save the image(s) to a temporary folder (e.g. Desktop or a folder in there)

2. Copy the image(s) into;

- My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 201x/graphics/your MP folder

Overwrite only if you are absolutely sure as the previous image will then be lost!

3. Use fmXML (or a similar program) to rebuild the config.xml file to reflect the new changes.

4. Load up FM, to confirm that the new cut/s has/have appeared.

Getting an Individual picture to appear in game:

1) Save your chosen picture as the correct ID into the following folder:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 201x/graphics/anywhere apart from your MP folder
(You may need to create the last 3 folders)

2) Next you need to create a config file, (the file that links the game to the image) and put it in the folder "Individual" with your picture.
You can download fmXML (Instruction Video) which will do it automatically for you. Save it.

3) Go back to your game prefs and untick "Show unique IDs" click confirm and hey presto your picture should be there.

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

That doesn't seem to be the correct installation folder for custom graphics on a Mac. I'm copying the below from the FAQ and installation instructions. Do take the time to check them out if need be 😉

From FM20 onwards, there's been a substantial change to how Mac FM documents are stored. Previously the files would automatically go in the Documents folder here:

Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x

Now the files will instead appear in the following location:

Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x

By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:

Open Finder

Click ‘Go’ from the menubar

Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key

This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 202x’

The preferences should look like in the below screenshot:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ddxsJBZ1AGXdLpBKoLPUMRzid79j9iur1rCL2yIN.png

To get them to look like this, navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.

Choose the advanced tab (the blue square within the screenshot above) and select all from the drop-down menu on the right (the red square within the screenshot above).

Scroll down to the interface section near the middle of the list, where you are to make sure that:
• the “Use caching to decrease page loading times” box is unticked
• the “Reload skin when confirming changes in Preferences” box is ticked

After clicking confirm, it may take a few seconds or minutes for all the graphics to be loaded and you should now see all the graphics you have downloaded appear in your save game.

Once your skin is reloaded, you can re-tick the "Use Caching to Decrease Page Loading Time" button so that the splash screen at the start takes a lot less longer to load. However, the above process needs to be undertaken every time you add graphics to your game to ensure that the game "reads" them.

P.S. Okonkwo has a more recent cut-out than the one you're using, which is from 2019 😉

Ok thanks! I have located the new folder, I saved all the other files for kits, trophies, faces etc. in the one I put Okonkwo and Tavares in. If I put Okonkwo and Tavares in the newly located folder will it take resources from both folders?

I'm not sure what it is that you're asking here 😢

All custom graphics have to be in the path outlined in my previous post. Anything inside the folder titled graphics will be captured. If only to keep order, it is recommended that you split different graphics types in different sub-folders.

Hope this helps 👍

Thanks. My question is, the path that you said was wrong currently works for me. I am gonna keep it the same as I'm having no issues with them being in the ‘wrong’ folder. If I put Tavares and Okonkwo in the ‘correct’ folder, will they use assets from both the ‘wrong’ and ‘right’ folder.

Sorry if I didn't explain well

P.S. I got the updated Okonkwo render, thanks!

You're confusing me now. If the cut-outs aren't displaying, how can you say that they are working for you? Have you changed your preferences as described earlier?

The game can only have one user data folder (i.e. the location where you place your custom files). Whatever that location is, the game will only read files from within that folder and any sub-folders. So, anything in the wrong folder will not be seen by the game.

Hi,

I’ve followed these instructions, but rather than replacing my digital managers’ face with mine, there’s a blank space where the picture should be.

I’ve used a picture of myself and had the background removed through the website remove.bg, so it’s basically a cut-out image.

If I add a manager picture through the in-game ‘Preferences’, the picture has a white background, so it isn’t cut-out.

I‘ve followed the instructions above, creating a new folder and using FMXML, just for that image, and I’ve also added my picture to the mega pack I downloaded, adding the required data into the config file through WordPad.

I’ve reloaded the skin, cleared the cache, etc. I’m at a loss as to why I’m getting nothing.

My original digital face I created is gone, but it’s replaced by a blank space, so I’m assuming I’m on the right track, but making a mistake somme where.

Has anyone faced a similar challenge or can anyone kindly assist?

Hi,

Not sure if this helps you but to change my digital manager face to my own all I done was go into Preferences-General-Change Profile Picture then choose the file where the cut out image is located (mine was in Pictures) then load it. Once that was done my Manager face now shows as my own cut out image.

I tried that, but my cut-out picture then appears with a white box around it. So, rather than just my uninterrupted silhouette, I’ve got a big square around my head.

Yeah, it's definitely saved as a png. I've gone to ‘Properties’ on the image to make sure.

Upload the image? This is it.

It might have been a png, but it did not have a transparent background at all, and in fact had a white one.

I'm attaching a cut-out of the same image. Use it and you should be fine 👍

Hi there

I've tried to add a cut out face to a new player made in the editor before starting a game, but the face doesn't appear in the game. I have reloaded skin and made sure, that the ID matches the name of the picture, what am I doing wrong? Or is it just not possible to add the picture?

Ok, so I have followed this rule numerous times, and over the years I have religiously done it and has always worked. However for some reason it will not work for me on FM23. I have tried adding to the megapack and have made a new config. I have also tried doing it with a new file added to graphics with its own config. Always clearing cache and reloading skin from preferences. using caching is unticked. I just don't know what to do. Please help

Thank you. It is a file I have added of a few players and some staff, has worked in previous FM versions - changing ID's and configs etc.

I have tried adding the Cardiff file in folder of faces, folder of sortitoutsi, folder of faces within sortitoutsi and also put them in the facepack and reconfigured all images but still nothing works.

I have added the screenshots you requested.

Can you also upload the actual cut and the actual config files as attachments too?

That's exactly what I suspected, and why I asked for that particular screenshot, in fact 😉

The UID shown on the pre-game editor will not be the same as the one in-game, so always keep that in mind 😉

Sorry to bother again, but…

I've created the iconface, then I created a config file for it with the fmxml, but the iconface doesn't show in the game. There were no problems when adding the face, but the iconface I just cant make appear
