It was relief more than anything. I don't believe for one minute that Wenger is happy finishing fourth every season having won the Premier League three times, and the players certainly won't be. People love to have a dig but celebrating getting into the Champions League doesn't mean that's all we're happy with, it just means we're happy with fourth place considering the position we've found ourselves in.

This summer will be an interesting one anyhow, and Champions League football gives us a platform to attract the calibre of player we need to push on. It also means Spurs are less likely to keep Bale.

The players and fans aren't happy with fourth, then they probably shouldn't celebrate like they've won something. The fans were non-stop singing about Spurs after the final whistle, seemed like their season had been a success as they had finished above Spurs, even though Arsenal still didn't win a trophy or made any real progress towards challenging for the title.

If it had worked out that Newcastle had stayed up on the last day of the season, relegating Sunderland in the process, would your fans not revel in that fact?

It's called a football rivalry. Presuming you didn't celebrate when Newcastle beat Sunderland 5-1? Seeing as Newcastle had no hopes of winning a trophy that season the result didn't matter, right?

Fact is we don't have a lot to celebrate these days so beating Spurs in this fashion two years in a row after their fans print 'mind the gap' t-shirts and mouthing off is special.

Fact is we don't have a lot to celebrate these days so beating Spurs in this fashion is special.

Some of the criticism has been pathetic and completely hypocritical. All of the players have spoken about their ambitions to win titles, as has Wenger. That doesn't mean we can't celebrate decent achievements in the present, which securing Champions League football is. Some people just love to hate.

Did anyone see Le Fondre celebrate his goal for Reading today? Reading's season hasn't been a success, so why is he smiling and hugging his teammates? They didn't win a trophy or stay in the Premier League, it's pathetic. He should merely lower his head in shame and feel disappointed with his side's performance this year.

I'm not sure what Spurs fans thought we'd do them a favour.

If they lose Bale they're in big trouble. They've do well to get a record points total for a Premier League-era Spurs side despite losing Modric and Van Der Vaart, losing their best players a lot and effectively having no strikeforce. But a lot of it is Bale and without him, they're not going to hit these highs any time soon.

As for us?

Well, this season's over and we didn't go down. So thank fuck for that. With any luck next season we won't be so underwhelming.

Newcastle effectively done that last week, and the general emotion was relief, I would have been a bit embarrassed if the players celebrated like that after the final whistle.

Obviously, but finishing above Sunderland like you have done as opposed avoiding relegation on the last day at the expense of Sunderland are completely different situations. If we'd secured Champions League football before today it would have been a lot more toned down.

I don't know if you're just bitter about the result or just an arse, but being so offended by another club's fans celebrating a decent achievement is just petty.

I really don't know why Spurs fans thought we'd help them - we've been cack for several weeks (some cynics might say we've been cack since winning at Chelsea one year ago). Today was actually a decent performance in the first half that should've produced a goal or two but it was irritating how we sort of meandered our way to the end of the campaign without that big an attempt to make things interesting. Spurs really did bottle it this time.

Tiote? He's been shocking virtually all season long. Not the only one of course but one that stands out more than others. I don't know what has happened but it's amazing to think he was valued at £20M last year and based on a lot of this season we'd struggle to get 20 sweets for him.

Absolutely gutted to finish fifth again and what's worse than losing the Champions League spot to your arch rivals. I hope we'll keep Bale this summer and bring some quality in. I'm really happy with AVB's work, much weakened team than previous season, still won more points. This summer is crucial for us.
