Cheers Johno. Ye a fantastic result against Juve.
Cheers KEZ_7 any characters in particular to have a look for?
Sadly a deal was in place but he's out injured for 3 months so failed the medical. Soon as I can complete a deal I will be hoping to go back for him.
Fola
It'll be class if you manage to get Carroll. Him and Lacina Traore up to could be...erm...tall.
Cymro
Would be ace but Carroll can't stay fit at the moment. So no deal will ever be likely to happen.
The club is making huge strides again in Asia. One dud season cost them dearly in the reputation market. Be nice to see if I can take them to the top.
Sit just behind South Korean giants Seoul.

During the season managed to reach my 100th game with this great club. Very happy to have reached it, hopefully there are more games to come here.

Elkeson the man magician has been outstanding during my time at the club. I am really surprised no club from Europe or Brazil have in for him, not that it bothers me if they do. He is happy at the club and we are happy to have him.
Cymro
Now, I'm really happy at Guangzhou but as you will see a bit later I have made some substantial signings and this has led to me becoming disinterested with the club. Really the calibre I have signed is way to good for the league and thus making it not that enjoyable. Esteghlal are a massive side in Iranian football, have a bit of money and a board that will allow me my own freedom. Worth a punt, highly unlikely I will leave mid season mind.
Cymro
First deal through the door, replacement for the ageing Diamanti.
Will count towards our Asian foreign quota.
Can't blame Moysey on this one.
Surprised he was not snapped up but I will take him.
Yes, yes I signed him.
Massive capture for the club. Going to boost our merchandise sales in Asia no end.

A job that appeals to me. A recent takeover and quite a bit of money. Don't ask me why I fancy the challenge, I do like the name, logo and kit colours. So a nice challenge if I was to get the job of taking them back into the top division in Iranian football whilst trying to establish them in Asia.

So the offer came at the end of the league season so I took the offer. Really sad to leave Guangzhou. But the time has come. Managing wasn't fun anymore and the last couple of months seemed to be like a chore. I wouldn't mind going back there in the future, but for now my future is in Iran and in Iran's fourth biggest city. Got to love the promises I got in my contract offer. An overhaul of the club's facilities.
Next update will be my end of season update.

My third and last season in the job, the aim this time around was going to be about getting the squad to compete on all fronts and to defend the Champions League. The board just wanted league and Champions League finals but they also wanted me to compete for the other trophies. I was to be armed with money to ensure that I could do just that.
League Fixtures - We had a another successful campaign. Three defeats all season is pretty good going. Suffered embarrassing losses back to back against Shanghai and Fuli. But we recovered and found our form pretty quickly again. Dispatching Yiteng was good to see as was Liaoning. We did really ride our luck this season and we got bailed out sometimes by some magical solo performances when we were down and out. The League Table far from a comfortable league victory. The table will show a gap but it wasn't until the third from last game did we secure the title. Shandong is a club we just seemingly cannot shake off. They chased us all the way and it was frustrating at times. Seemingly they like stalking us.
Chinese FA Cup - Another trophy we defended this season. We seemed to struggle towards the end, with fitness starting to show. We got bailed out a few times and in the last leg of the final it was down to 16 year old Academy and future Chinese superstar Yin Qian to net home to seal victory. Got away with it here really.
AFC Champions League - Pride was on the line this year. Could we go back and defend the biggest and most prestigious trophy in Asia. We weren't that good if I am honest. Busan took us close to the edge as did Lekhwyla in the final. We got away with some games were sides didn't show up because of the 'fear' of playing us. Lot of the Chinese players showed a great deal of character when playing and it was a joy to see them do so.
Super Cup - Great way to kick off the season again ... for the neutral that is. 5-5 and a win on penalties saw us home. We were leaky at the back, partly down to the unavailability of key players who were recovering from knocks or international duty.
Transfers - I went round terrorising other clubs in China for their U23 players of quality which paid off well for us. I also secured some tidy young talent from clubs too. Brought in a stellar cast of overseas talent in Wilshere, Kagawa and Pastore to name a few. On the transfers out, mainly loans. Two main cash deals saw left wing back Rong Hao wanting to leave to further his career, bare in mind he was our first choice but he wanted to leave so I was sad to see him depart. Then there was club legend Gao Lin. Was a tough moment when I had to get rid of him. He started the season off as the main striker but injuries kept him out and others overtook him, he couldn't force his way back in so he wanted to leave. A sad way to depart but it was probably for the best.
Finances - Spending the chairman's money wisely is something I always aimed to do. But I failed miserably, splashing over £5million on Willian and the rest on the free agents and wages. Made some shrewd signings but some of them were just to please the board. I also was hell bent on ensuring the facilities were the best so also looked into improving the infrastructure at the club. League and Cup successes have meant things have worked well and money has come into the club.
Squad - The squad is in period of transition. Some of the old guard are on the way out being replaced by younger models. This squad image was taken after Diamanti accepted an offer to become a coach at the club but he only featured in 4 fixtures all season. Lot of outstanding performances. The aim for the club now is to sell off the deadwood and continue to improve the squad.
Key Player Profiles:
Lacina Traore - The Ivorian international came to the party this year, but only after I declared he was off at the end of the season. His form just rose and the goals came in. If I stayed he would have been off, felt that I had enough Chinese strikers that could do a job, it would have been a risk but a risk worth taking to allow for better foreign players in other position.
Willian - The Brazilian international jumped at the chance to sign for us. I was please to have captured him. His form was a little bit up and down at times. When he was bad he was bad but when he was good he was outstanding and he produced magic from out of nowhere. Be sad to part from him at the end of the season but I am sure he will continue to prosper in Chinese football.
Bai Binbin - One of the youngsters I snapped early on in my stint with the Chinese Dragons. Didn't play that much but when he did he produced the goods. A big talent and he as been rewarded with some caps for China. I expect to see him take a greater role at the club once my departure is finalised.
Wu Lei - Lei is an ever growing player. Couldn't get into the side at the start of the season but soon was able to establish himself as a striker when Lin couldn't stay fit. Would play anywhere for us and this versatility worked in his favour. His 9 league goals were of vital importance and his assists were also of importance. His great club form was taken into international football and he became a household name for the international side.

Next Season
So next season as you know I'm moving to Iranian side Saipa who are based in Karaj. I ideally want to build some foundations at the club whilst challenging for promotion. The league is underway in Iran and the club are not sitting pretty, I join a club low on form and low on moral. My job is to turn the fortunes around. Media have already predicted that my time will be a failure and some have questioned why I have taken a step backward in joining a side in a second division. Some have argued I am a long long away from finding the lights of old Shanghai town here. Who knows, one day I could managed in old Shanghai town.
Cymro
Aye, took the fun out of it. I thought at first it was fun and cool, but it soon became obvious it was not. I had the board hounding me for start attractions and I had start attractions unhappy with not playing enough. So I placed a few on the transfer list and made my way out.

Moving away from Guangzhou was not an actually tough decision to undertake. I had evaluated the pro's and con's of continuing with the club for quite a while and I came to the conclusion that it was the correct one to move on. I did enjoy my time spent in China, quite a large footballing nation in Asia and lots of hidden gems here that could make the leap to lower league top flight clubs in Europe. Some have made that jump and succeed, others have moved and sunk. The move to Saipa is going to be an adventure like none other. Updates are coming slowly, and will continue to come slowly. Time is not what it once was.
History of the Club
Saipa Alborz Football Club is a football team based in Karaj, Alborz Province, Iran. Karaj is Iran's fourth largest city. The team is owned by SAIPA, an Iranian automobile manufacturer. The team has never had a large fanbase, despite some success in Iranian football. It is known to have one of the best youth training programs in Iranian football and has produced the likes of Hossein Kazemi, Javad Kazemian and Masoud Shojaei.
Club Profile - Never managed in Iran before, although it has been of interest to do so in Football Manager. There are many clubs full of money and I am sure with the right investment the talent that could be developed and nurtured could well help develop Iran as a decent footballing nation. The form of the club has been on a sharp decline. My aim is to steady the ship before climbing back up the ranks.
General Info - The reputation is quite low but not surprising consider where the club is currently found. As we climb hopefully so will the stars. Iranian legend Ali Daei is an icon here and I hope to emulate his success here at the club. There is a good hardcore fanbase and I only hope that number will increase over time. We are lying 10th in the league and hovering just above the relegation zone. Better get a wiggle on.
Manager Profile - Things are again improving slowly. The bars are moving up and I hope to continue this here. I am a little concerned about my media handling stat. I always answer the questions and I believe I make the right decisions. So disappointed to see the bar so low. My domestic player bias took a hit because of my last splurge on the foreign players I brought into China.
Facilities - Our stadium is a good size, and in a condition that might see us needing to improve it in the future. I want to upgrade the training facilities as best as I can whilst here. The youth facilities are top notch only having recently been upgraded by the previous manager and seemingly due for another whilst I am here. I will likely use the youth facilities to develop the backbone of this club.
Squad 1 The squad possesses some talent but not enough to be sustainable at this level. Need to sign some players in some key areas to ensure we have enough talent in the squad to improve the current league position.
Staff - Backroom needs addressing. Some quality there but not enough to convince me that they are the best for the club. Will be looking to address as soon as possible.
Finances - £40 million is an outstanding sum to have but I have only £738k to spend. The Japanese businessman that took over the club really wants to invest heavily. I do hope to ask the chairman for some new money, and get some real investment into the squad. I am looking at what I can use this money for, hopefully I can continue to get facilities upgraded and we start producing some of these outstanding Iranian footballers from our Academy.

Aye a decent one, hopefully I will get the cash as soon as I can request for an increase in transfer budget.
Should have posted this above. Got to get to work on this club. Trophies are calling.

A good move hopefully, just hope I can access the money.
My replacement in Guangzhou. He's won the AFC Champions League with Pohang but in the same year got them relegated from the K-League. I have little doubt he will mess up.
Cymro
Won promotion to the top league in Iran. The league I have just won is an absolute interesting one, you lose a game and you drop down to mid table, win one and you are fighting for promotion. Lot of work to be done with this side. Lost a few experienced heads during the January transfer window.
Cymro
So the Chairman has opened his war chest for me. In a sense it is good, but I am only going into the market for high quality foreign imports and might add one or two experienced heads to help guide the youngsters.
Cymro
So didn't realise I couldn't have a young squad out in Iran ... game is changing and my patience to succeed here thinning now that these rules are in force. Can't attract the top end over 23 year olds, the ones I can are of a poor standard.
Cymro
First season in Iranian football and one that I am excited about. The club is not in the strongest of league positions and the squad is weak. Yet we possess a passionate chairman who is willing to back me financially. He has agreed to improve the already impressive youth academy system and training facilities so it is a great start.
First fixture for me was on the 8th December and really didn't look back. An undefeated stint in my first year at the club. Some impressive results and a squad who were more than happy to score goals. Sadly we do have a habit of leaking goals, but that I hope is down to the side being so young and as they grow and develop it won't become an issue.
A league where a loss puts you down to the relegation zone and a win puts you into the play offs. Crazy old league and that is what made it excitable. Really enjoyed my first season at the club.
Squad had many talented players. Lot of young guns who were able to use their youthfulness to run rings round the old men that were being fielded by other sides in the league. Young Spaniard Bernal was a stand out for us.
The famous academy produced some great talent and the majority of them have been signed up already. Hoping over the next few seasons we will see a few of these breaking into the first team.
Some of the transfers in are for the following season, so the money spent is a lot higher than what it should be. A mixture of long term money payment deals and frees. Lost key player Jackson to North Korea after he wasn't happy to continue to play for the club in the league. Lot of the free's signed were of youngsters who could well be superstars.
The chairman's money really benefited us. Hoping further money will help the club to grow.

Next Season
The real decision is do I leave or stay. I've started but with these rules placed upon the squad for next season I don't think it is something I am going to enjoy. Ideally I wanted to build the youth up and play them but the rules stop us from doing that to a certain degree. We can get some rubbish over 23s at the moment but that won't be enough to help us survive. There is nothing out there of any interest for me at the moment but if something does come I will likely apply for it.
Cymro
Offer has come and something that appeals to me. Have a good set up and some cracking little players. Money to be thrown and a club that is keen to develop Qatari talent as well as everything else. I am tempted to jump at this opportunity, but would like some advice.
