When do you make subs?

Is it when a player reaches a certain physical condition and if so what number?

Is it performance??

Is it time related eg you always like to make one around 60 min mark.

Just curious to see how others play the game when it comes to subs and if all 3 are used each match.

Performance for me first and foremost. Beyond that it's generally time based I like to make at least one around the hour mark and will generally go for one of the most tired or someone on a yellow card depending how well they are playing or how good they are. More inclined these days to save subs until later in the game though, used to make 2 subs on the hour make relentlessly.

I'm always really concious of fitness. Even if the player is putting in a stormer I will consider taking them off if they are around 65%. I also pay close attention to those who are on yellow cards AND tired. Maybe giving the game too much credit here, but tired minds put in tired tackles.

I don't really look at the time and regularly don't make any changes in a game if I don't think it's necessary. I'll also be happy to do a triple substitution if we it looks easy to identify those who are costing me.

Never changed a GK and, unless they are having a nightmare, I try not to change my defenders.

So fitness when it decreases during a game what impact does it actualy have?

does speed of player reduce or decisions? or what is it exactly

I'm not exactly sure what the fitness reduces, but I know that that's a major factor in my substitutions. I like unnecessarily arbitrary figures so I tend to substitute below 68%, unless someone is having a stinker. If I have a player playing at around 6.2 or less deep into the second half I generally try to get them off.

I don't mind subbing full backs, but rarely change a centre back unless injured.

For me, fitness is a major factor to the extent that unless I have to I won't start a player who has below 92% in pre-match.

be good to know what the fitness actaully affects and how it affects players during the game when it reduces/

I've always assumed it just makes them slower. I hadn't even thought about the reduced decision making.

I do sometimes think that we (as players) give the game's AI a bit too much credit!

Always around the 60 minute mark or when a players fitness starts dropping into the low 70's.
