Obviously this is really frustrating but unfortunately there's nothing we can do, we've got pretty much zero leverage to push for it what with just being a fansite.
We have been promised that the possibility of us having the discount as well will be looked into for FM19, but FM18 is apparently too close.
I'm really sorry to anyone who feels hard done by or confused, it's completely out of my hands and we have, and will continue to, try our best to get the best deal for our members in the future.

Can you take a screenshot? I removed everything related to the bonus and what I see is it definitely saying the full price at every step of the way so I can't see how this mistake could be made?
There's literally no way that paypal would have displayed an incorrect price and i'm pretty certain there's no where we're displaying the discounted price and it would take a monumental brain fart to manage to ignore the price on the screen twice, when clicking to buy and when confirming on paypal (see screenshots)

That seems like a really strange assumption, never in my life have I ever handed over money and then received a discount as a refund later on.
As for sending an email about the deal having to be removed, again i've never sent an email advertising that a deal is no longer available. It costs $55 to send each mailer, it wouldn't make sense in that instance.
Anyway i'll look into organising the refund, have you activated the code in steam yet?

Doesn't seem that strange an assumption to me, since sortitoutsi doesn't have access to my Steam account, and therefore cannot verify if I have FM17. The most logical way for the discount to be applied is through Steam once they have have verified it. It's called a rebate, and they are actually fairly common even if you've never heard of them.
It also seems fairly logical to me that having sent out at least two emails to every member advertising a discount, that once you've realised that you cannot honour said discount you should let them know in the same manner. Then again, if you go around offering discounts without having any kind of formal agreement with Valve authorising you to do so, and having no other means of honouring that offer, maybe logic isn't playing that big a part. I'm not really sure if it would actually be considered fraudulent advertising (although it does have a whiff of Bait-and-Switch), but the people at Trading Standards might be interested.
Also, having a reference to the discount on the page selling the item when you have no intention of offering it is, at the very least, "a monumental brain fart." I've included the screen capture in jpeg this time, apologies for including the wrong file last time.
As for the Steam code, it has been activated, due to my misguided belief that it would be a necessary step in authenticating my claim to a rebate.

As for the discount we did have an agreement and honoured every single one of them who purchased, when it was active and paid for at the advertised price.
I said i'm happy to refund I just wanted to try and ascertain how this could happen.
