Players In Multiple Formations/Tactics

When setting up a tactic/formation - is there a way to keep a player locked to his relative position when creating a 2nd tactic?

Example - I have my main tactic/formation where John Doe will be set up to a specific role at his position but if I create a secondary tactic, it moves him out of position. Is there a way to tell FM “I want these players in this formation at these positions and these players in a second formation…”

It's always annoyed me but I never really tried to remedy it.
