Hi All,

after 6 months i was forced to upgrade the game from PATCH 23.1.0 to PATCH 23.5.0.

I was sticking with first patch since i've found a perfect tactic, a 4-3-3 wide that was working like a charm.

Now I want to come back to PATCH 23.1.0, do you know if it's possibile and how to do?

thank you

Thank you for quick answer.

It's absurd for me that it's not possibile to chose the ME but we just have to adapt

yes, but he had to do that prior to the updates he cant do that retrospectively , unless you know another way?

this used to work, you would need to back up this -C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2023

and prior to the game being updated then once the game is updated you replaced the update with that folder

There is a way around it, I have all versions of fm23 but I wouldn't want to get this site into trouble to give away how to do it

You are more than welcome to share 🙂

I'm not sure if you're on windows or mac or using steam (it's always helpful if you say this in advance).

But you should be able to open the steam console and type

download_depot 1904540 1904541 4758097621529318017

The first number is the appid, the second is the depot id and the third is the manifest (the exact version you want). You can see dates for different manifests here: https://steamdb.info/depot/1904541/manifests/ as you can see I chose the manifest from December 1st.

If you're not sure how to open the steam console on a mac you can easily just copy steam://nav/console into the browser search bar and it will open.

On windows it might not work from the web browser in which case just open the terminal and then type steam://nav/console

Once you've done that you'll see something like this:

It will just sit there and you won't see any feedback that it's working but you can check your networks activity tab to confirm it is (if that confuses you don't worry just assume it is). Let it sit there for anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours depending on your internet connection.

It will then say “Depot Download Complete” and give the location where it saved the files.

Simply overwrite the existing FM files with these files. The existing FM files are usually located in:

Windows: Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2023\

Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 2023/

I would suggest moving the existing files to another location somewhere safe rather than overwriting so you can move them back if something has gone wrong.

I didn't know about that way maybe that works only works for console, does it work for pc?. I'm on steampc. So simply backup the football manager 2023 folder from the old patch save it in a  location before it gets updated/patched. The updated football manager folder 2023, simply delete and  replace it with the old patch football manager folder in the commons/data folder, then play steam in offline mode so it doesn't automatically update. Nothing complicated and always works, I've helped a lot of users including the OP revert back to M.E 23.2.2 using this method which is pre winter update patch(which I think is the most balanced version), I've also got the beta version and 23.1.0 version and it's the same method every time

Those instructions are for both PC and Mac.

You may have got confused by the word “console” in the instructions this is also commonly referred to as “terminal” or “command prompt” (see wikipedia).

It has nothing to do with a “games console” such as an xbox or playstation.

If you read the instructions again it should be clear that these are instructions for PC and Mac.

I see. Definitely for PC so will try it out. what about the .exe file? It still shows the latest version and i cant seem to find a way to get it back as the console trick only affects the DATA folder alone.

Thanks for the input but what about the .exe file? It still shows the latest version and i cant seem to find a way to get it back as the console trick only affects the DATA folder alone? Is the match engine not also influenced by the .exe too??? Im trying this with FM24 as the latest update broke my save and want to revert back to previous version.

You need to follow the pathway where the download depot installed in the content folder which should have the exec file in. Make sure you have the app id, not build id and it should work.

I have downloaded all the patches for FM 24, yet there is no exec file in every patch downloaded. When I overwrite the current patch (24.2.0) with the old patch (24.1.0), when I launch the game, the patch still shown as 24.2.0 on the 'game status' page. Is it not possible to revert to the old version for FM24 then?

EDIT: Alright nvm. I found out that to download the .exe file and the other files in the same folder for the older version of the game to work, I use the depot id and manifest id from this link instead: https://steamdb.info/depot/2252572/manifests/

I've followed this method for FM24 on my Mac. I've got the files downloaded for the previous version of the game but none of the files downloaded match any of the existing files in my Football Manager 2024 folder? I just have a Data folder and an fm.app? I've added screenshots below. If you could explain how to overwrite the newest update files with the previous update files that would be amazing. Thanks.
