By default FM2014 doesn't use real players for the German National Team and instead uses fake players listed in grey. This guide will explain how to get German National Team to call up proper German Players rather than these fake grey players in Football Manager 2014.

Step One

First thing you need to is download the sortitoutsi Real Name Fix file. Just go to that link and click "Download" on the right hand side to begin.

Step Two

Once it's downloaded you should be presented with a list of files as shown in the image below. You want to copy the three folders called dbc, edt and Inc to your clipboard (Ctrl+C).

Step Three

Now go to this location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2014\data\db\1400

And delete the folders called dbc, edt and Inc.

Step Four

Then paste the folders you just copied to your clipboard into the folder you just deleted the files from.

Step Five

Now return to the file you just downloaded and open the folder called "Editor Data Files" and you should see these three files, copy all 3 to the clipboard:

Step Six

Now paste those three files into this location:

C:\Users\{{ your name }}\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2014\editor data

If the folder doesn't exist you can just create it.

Step Steven

You're all done. Not all the changes are save game compatible, such as some club name changes and the addition of media sources. If you add this file in the middle of a saved game and want the German national team fixed you will have to wait until the next instance that that national teams call up players.

The database is still the 14.0.0 version as no official database update has been released by SI. It's the game version which is 14.1.3.

In short, there's nothing to worry about and you're ready to go

You don't actually need a new safe for the German national team to be fixed, you just have to wait until the next nomination, then the ranks of the team are filled.
Step Seven of the description could be edited though.

Hey guys, sorry I'm Italian so I really need to ask you:
what do you mean with the terms 'nomination' or 'instance' referring to when the German national teams will have active players? Perhaps you mean the next transfer window? Thanx a lot, I'm managing Schalke right now, and it's so frustrating not having the possibility to scout or sign young german talents!

You copy the ones you should. The ones in step 5 should be copied into the editor folder.

Right, i've tried to do this, but when I look for the 'Football Manager 2014' sub-folder in the 'common' folder, I don't have it? I've searched my computer looking for it, but it appears that, despite me literally playing FM14 right now, it's not on my computer? Can anyone shed any light?

Search within the Steam folder and it should be contained in there. What Operating System do you use?

Can you try checking if you have a folder in C named Program Files (x86)?

If yes, check if there's a Steam folder in there...

Nothing, can't find anything with that name?

This is odd. I never had this issue with FM13, which was installed etc exactly the same!

I'm mystified - it should be in there, otherwise you couldn't play it.

It's evidently somewhere.

Try searching your hard disk for euro test.dbc, for example. That's contained by default in the dbc folder...
