This file is intended for version 14.3.0 of FM14, and will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are re-installed when patches come out.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 14 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.

There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 23 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. It also includes a small file to correct some incorrect national kit colours and ones whose kits were not displaying. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM14.

Or, you can follow the below instructions to install this file:

Step 1: Go to

PC
 Program Files \ Steam \ SteamApps \ common \ football manager 2014 \ data \ db \ 1430
Mac
USERNAME \ Library \ Application Support \ Steam \ SteamApps \ Common \ Football Manager 2014 \ Data \ db \ 1430
Linux
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Football Manager 2014/data/db/1430/

Please note that the Local folder is hidden. Press (ctrl + h)
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

Step 2: Delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the folder above

Step 3: Copy the dbc, edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.

Step 4: Go to:

Documents \ Sports Interactive \ Football Manager 2014
Step 5: Open the folder named "editor data" contained therein. If it does not exist, then create it.

Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and open the folder named "editor data files".

Step 7: Copy everything from the folder in step 6 into the folder mentioned in step 5.

To check if the file is working, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly.

Hi there,

I'm sorry, but in all the years playing the games and using this great fix, I can't get it to work on 14.3.0/1.
I'm sure I've installed it correct, as I've done tons of time previously, but nothing changes. not just German & Japan NT's, but also competition names, etc.
Any ideas? any screenshots required?

Read this post first.

If that does not answer your question, then please post a screenshot of your 1430>lnc folder...

Sorry!
Figured it out. As I had steam previously installed in a different location, I've placed the files there, and for this reason it did not work!
Thanks for the quick feedback.

I'm on a MAC OS X 10.9.2 and I'm having problems with this, the DBC files are working when I've downloaded and extracted it but the inc and edt files are not, I bought the game via Steam and it doesn't give me the SteamApps or any of those folders, I've attached a screenshot of the folders in FM 14, any help?

The dbc, edt and lnc folders need to be placed inside the Steam installation folder rather than the user folder included in your screenshot.

Steam must have installed the game somewhere - try to find the location and then follow the paths indicated in the OP. I'm afraid I can't be much more helpful, but I use Windows not Apple Perhaps some other helpful user can assist?

Please read the installation instructions carefully, as I'm afraid you've made a real mess of the installation process.

The editor data files folder should not be placed there. It's contents should go into Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2014 > editor data

I have no idea where you got the other files within the inc folder as they are not the ones in this download.

The folder should be named lnc (with the first letter as in licensing) and not inc (as in incest).

Moreover, for licensing reasons, there are no Japanese-based players in the official database. To have them you need to download an unofficial database and place it in the editor data folder within the user preferences folder in My Documents (which is where the media files mentioned above.

This is a great Real name and team fix-file. Any chance you guys will add a file or so that the players in the reserve/U21 team won´t end up with wrong shirt numbers?

Here are some examples.
In the editor: Team - Charlton. Player - 7. Green. In the game: Green has no 13?
In the editor: Team - Doncaster. Player - 7. Mark Duffy. In the game: Duffy has no 21?
In the editor: Leicester 9. Jamie Vardy. In game: 27
In the editor: AZ 22. Berghuis. In game: 27
In the editor: Inter 11. Alvarez. In game: 15

I´ve been in contact with some guys at the Sigames community but the answear I got is:
"I'm afraid the development cycle for FM14 has now finished and this, given the priority of the issue, will not be fixed"

I'm afraid this file doesn't actually edit any player data, so you're asking in the wrong place.

If you want to add the above changes in a new game, they should take you no more than 1-2 minutes maximum using the official editor.

Hi, I just downloaded this - mainly to get the French club names correct. It has changed the competition names alright (UEFA Champions League and such), but French teams are still showing up as "OM" instead of Marseille, "LOSC" instead of Lille, "Olympique Lyonnais" instead of just Lyon etc. Should they not have changed or have I managed to do something wrong?

If this is in the middle of a save game, the club names will not be changed, unfortunately.

They can be displayed in a save-game, however, by opening the City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file with Notepad, scrolling to the French section, and removing the # from in front of all the entries. FYI, the # "instructs" the game to ignore that line and removing obviously lets the game read and apply the changes.

This method will however lose all the current club nicknames, so it's up to you if you want to apply it.

Thanks for your reply - it was done before I started a new game though. Portuguese clubs have also been renamed correctly - Benfica instead of SLB for example - so I found it strange that all the French clubs still had their very long names...

From what you've said, I'm afraid you seem to have installed the editor data files incorrectly Can you upload a screenshot of your editor data folder so I can confirm?

The Portuguese names changes are effected using the lnc files rather than the dbc file in the editor data folder, which is why they appear and others don't. Either way, you can ensure the correct, short names display for the French clubs and all the others by using the process I explained in my last post

I fired up the official editor and had a look into some of the media files. There seems to be quite a lot of failed database changes in the file details. Surely this can't be right?

A lot of the media files are quite old and some of the changes made in the editor and database means there's inevitably some failed changes. It's something I'd like to take in hand and tackle with an eye on FM15 but I don't think I've got the time to do it. If you, or somebody else, is willing to take it on then go right ahead

I may be able to contribute some, I have been recently building a db of Spanish media with the idea that most clubs would be covered by real media outlets. I have a question though: If media scope is set to "club", it seems that that media source will not do any reports (clubs have been assigned to "areas covered" ). Have you noticed it? Is there a remedy for it?

Can't say I've noticed it. Why not try to assign those media sources to a city and then add a club as well?

My idea was to take a website like navarrasport.com, set it's scope to club and then add Navarran clubs to the list. Therefore there really is no one city to assign the media source to. If the media scope is set to "regional", it will also report on things not directly pertaining to Navarran clubs.

I will have to do some more testing.

Barça TV that is set to report just on FC Barcelona (and has proper city and local region etc. data) does not release any news... is it a bug in the game?
mons

Rather than being a bug, I suspect that club-related media is used relatively rarely by the game.
